    [SDCC] Thursday Programming

Today is Thursday. Today is the day you can try for the Marvel exclusives or maybe check out a panel or two.

    Brickheadz Drawing
    7am or so
    Sails Pavilion

Ticket drawing for the Brickheadz exclusive of Spider-Man and Venom 2-pack (pictured above). The time and location is actually a guess since I never got any press release to confirm, so I’m just going by past history. And if history is any indication, Press and Exhibitor badges will be denied the chance to draw.

Unikitty! New Episode Premiere and Q&A
    Thursday July 20, 2017 11:15am – 12:15pm
    Room 6A

Your favorite character from The LEGO Movie now has her own show! Journey to a joyous kingdom full of sparkle matter, happy thoughts, and the occasional rage-out in Unikitty!, an all-new animated series. As ruler of the kingdom, Unikitty has busy days full of royal responsibilities. Unikitty is most interested in making sure everyone is happy and ridding the kingdom of negativity, but don’t misunderstand her optimism-she is one kitty not to be crossed. While she may be full of boundless energy and creativity, Unikitty is a force to be reckoned with if anyone gets in the way of spreading her positive vibes, especially if anyone makes her little brother and best friend, Puppycorn, sad. Also living in the castle are Dr. Fox, the resident scientist, and Unikitty’s trusty bodyguard, Hawkodile. Producers and members of the voice cast will give a sneak peek at this new series and explain how Unikitty and her friends will make sure that every day is the happiest and most creative ever! Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Unikitty! is coming soon to Cartoon Network.

Yes, this is the actual figure and no, it is not a joke. The badge policy will be the same deal as the Brickheadz drawing.

    The LEGO Ninjago Movie
    Thursday July 20, 2017 6:45pm – 7:45pm
    Room 6A

In this big screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, a.k.a. the Green Ninja (Dave Franco), along with his friends, who are all secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu (Jackie Chan), as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their inner power of Spinjitzu.

This might be the only panel I’ll be able to go to that doesn’t conflict with their giveaways.

  • LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Updates: Venom Big Fig, Baxter Building Gameplay

    Venom Big Fig

Forbes posted a small but significant update to the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game.

Venom: Through the power of Change.org, it seems that TT Games will be listening to its fans and include a big fig version of Venom in order to keep the character true to it’s comic book counterpart despite the petition not reaching its 500 signature minimum.

No Wii Version: There is still no Wii version, only Wii U, and that doesn’t stem from any other reason other than attrition. With support for every platform including the new(ish) Wii U, Playstation 4, and Xbox One, one platform had to be let go, and that was unfortunately the Wii.

  • LEGO Human Torch Confirmed For Marvel Super Heroes Game

    Human Torch

FBTB Fan Ben Doney attended the MCM Expo/London Comic Con this past weekend and attended a presentation held by TT Games producer Phil Ring. At the presentation, Phil has confirmed that Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch will be a playable character in the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game. Now see, why couldn’t THAT be the promotional figure instead of Iron Patriot? Venom is also confirmed a villain character.

  • Review: 76004 Spider-man: Spider Cycle Chase

    76004 Overview

I’ve said before that I’m no real fan of the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon, but I’m a huge Spider-man fan in general. Seeing last year’s Spidey set got me quite excited, but in the end it failed to impress me and was a real disappointment. 2013 promised two new Spider-man sets in the first half and this one in particular caught my eye the right off, but I’ve been hurt before. I needed a set to come along and make me feel again.

    Preferably one with Nick Fury.

  • Sneak Peak @ Next Years LEGO Super Hero Lineup

Next Years DC Super Heroes RevealedNext Years DC Super Heroes Revealed 2

I hope these pics will satisfy some of the comic fans out there who’ve been wishing certain figs would pop up asap!
First up on the DC side we have Mister Freeze, Aquaman, a white suited Batman, Bane, Commissioner Gordon with a SWAT flack jacket, hooded Robin, Scarecrow, Arkham jumpsuit Joker, Penguin and what I believe is Harley Quinn in a nurse disquise. I believe these may or may not be based at least in part on the popular Arkham Asylum/City games that I have not had the pleasure to play, though Gordon and Bane to look like they may be based on their movie counterparts.

Next up on the Marvel side we have Spider-man, Nick Fury (Finally!), Venom, Nova, J. Jonah Jameson, Victor Von Doom and I have no idea who the red winged guy is. Human Fly? A new character from the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon? Hopefully Ace can shed some light on him if no one else can.

Seems like a nice line up to me and I’m betting there will be some others who will pop up sooner or later. Check back tonight as Ace hopes to have some more pics of these figures as an update.

Update: Well, that was fast! Ace has secured official pics of all these figs and more and apparently that red winged guy is Beetle. Guess he got an update since his purple suited days in Web Of Spider-man.

  • Exclusive Fig Is Black Suit Spider-man

SDCC 2012 Exclusive Black Suit Spider-man

Ace has gotten confirmation of what many Spidey fans already assumed by looking at the above SDCC Exclusive, that it is not Venom, but instead the Black Suited Spider-man first introduced in 1984’s Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. Badge scanning for these exclusive figs ends at noon, so if you’re planning on hitting up the booth GET THERE FAST! It being a variant Spidey suit makes it even more desirable in my book, but fret not Venom fans as the word at the booth is Spidey’s symbiote nemesis will be revealed today as part of next years Marvel line-up. Stay tuned for more updates as Ace will be uploading more pictures soon.

  • San Diego Comic Con: LEGO’s Friday Exclusive Minifig Giveaway Details

Shazam! and Venom Minifigs SDCC Exclusive

    Last post for the night.

Tomorrow is Friday, or today depending on when some of you are reading this, and Friday at San Diego Comic Con is slated to be LEGO Super Heroes day. As part of that celebration, LEGO is giving away 1,000 of each of the four exclusive minifigs: Bizarro and Shazam! for DC Universe and Venom and Phoenix for Marvel, for a total of 4,000 figures. Here’s what you gotta know:

    • There are no tickets. In years past, LEGO had a box with raffle tickets where you can draw one and see if you’ve won. Not this time. This year they are scanning badges.
    • Badge scanning will commence once the doors open for the public starting at 9am and continue until about 12 or 2, I’m not really sure but you should get there early anyway.
    • You can only get your badge scanned ONCE, so it is pointless to get back into line.
    • Once badge scanning has stopped, winners will be selected at random to win one of the four figures. You can only win one figure.
    • A list of winners and the minifigure they won will be posted at the LEGO booth at around 4pm.
    • If you’ve won, you can claim your minifig at the stage. You can claim your minifigure anytime between the time the list is posted and the convention hall closes.

These measures have been implemented and changed from last year’s process for several reasons, the most prominent one being to reduce the overcrowding and the carousel effect around the booth. So, in a nutshell: Get there early, have your badge scanned, come back later in the day. Good luck to everyone!

I’ll be posting details on how to try and win the exclusives later tonight.

Thanks to Brickset for the heads up.
