Toy Fair Report 2016: LEGO Ghostbusters

There are a lot of Star Wars pics, so while I wait for them to upload I’ll pop out a couple of the smaller themes.

First up, some extra pics of the Ghostbusters set from the upcoming movie. Honesty, I can’t wait for a trailer to gauge the tone of this one. Either way, I will certainly be picking up the set if only to get my hands on another LEGO hearse…

LEGO Announces Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2 Set for New movie

It’s kind of funny that we were just talking about this in chat the other day, but we now get word that there is a set coming up for “Ecto-2” and today LEGO announces that the new Ghostbusters movie will get its own set. I was already fairly excited for this movie, and the set doesn’t change much of that… but I am now super excited for this set. And I still need to get the Firehouse set…

January 2016 Assortment Now On Sale, Including LEGO Ghostbusters 75827 Firehouse Headquarters

It’s a new year for the east cost and it’s time to spend all those gift cards you’ve received over the holidays. There are 95 brand new items spread over 14 themes. A complete list of everything shiny and new is below. I had meant to post prices and pictures but the day ran away from me and I didn’t have time to get around to it. I’ve included links to both Amazon and LEGO Shop@Home for your browsing pleasure. Most links to Amazon are still set to pre-order but will begin shipping tomorrow January 1, 2016.

Included in this wave is the hotly anticipated LEGO Ghostbusters 75827 Firehouse Headquarters and the neweist modular building, LEGO Creator 10251 Brick Bank. You can read up on our review of the 75827 Firehouse Headquarters to see if it’s worth spending your holiday money on. The Star Wars selection is pretty weak; that is, unless you’re into the constraction figures then the selection is pretty AWESOME. There are 6 new constraction figures all of which are based on The Force Awakens. In fact, this entire wave is based on the new movie. We’ll have to wait until summer to get our hands on Ugnaughts.

    Review: 75827 Firehouse Headquarters

The LEGO Ghostbusters 75827 Firehouse Headquarters set is as good as the Ghostbusters music video is bad. Let’s pause a moment and have a quick viewing to see just how terrible the music video is:

Yes, the set is that good. There are tons of details mixed together from Ghostbusters I and II packed into three levels. The minifig cast is nearly perfect. There’s going to be a lot of pictures in this review. So let’s take a closer look in our review of LEGO Ghostbusters 75827 Firehouse Headquarters, shall we?

LEGO Ghostbusters 75827 Firehouse Headquarters Interior Revealed

LEGO has released images of the interior of the LEGO Ghostbusters Ideas project 75827 Firehouse Headquarters. With a selection a great looking minifigures and and unique way of opening up into a large L shaped playset, this beast looks like it should please collectors, MOCers and those that just like to play with very expensive toys. • Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Hits 10,000 Votes On Ideas

Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Hits 10,000 Votes On Ideas

Brent Waller has hit the trifecta with his third Ghostbusters themed set concept to hit 10,000 votes on LEGO Ideas. This time around it’s the completely harmless (unless you’re a church or a pencil-necked EPA stooge) Mr Stay Puft.

I loved both Waller’s original Ecto-1 submission and the huge firehouse build, but if I’m being totally honest I’ve never really felt this one. It’s just seems off to me and that is mostly the usual issue of trying to fit a round build into a square brick. I’d love to see Marcos Bessa’s take on Brent’s design, but I also think the overall size, even if the parts count was cut nearly in half would be too prohibitive.

I’ll admit though, amongst Brent’s other builds he does look right at home. If this does see the flickering florescent light of store shelves, I would absolutely love a Louis Telly minifgure. We miss you Rick.

One way or another, we won’t have long to wait for a Stay Puft minifigure and I wish all the luck possible to Brent on trying to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time.

  • First Look At LEGO Dimensions Ghostbusters Packs & New Worlds Trailer

First Look At LEGO Dimensions Ghostbusters Packs & New Worlds Trailer

I was away for the weekend and the amount of people that complimented me on my LEGO Stay Puft Marshmallow Man T-shirt was at an all-time high. People love the giant, church-stomping, fluff-splosion of fun that is Mr. Stay Puft. These new fun Packs are going to hot sellers I’ll bet and collectors will be snapping up extras with the specific intent of making little children cry. Monsters.

The trailer above states there will be 14 different worlds based on different properties, so if I’m right we’ve seen a fair amount for:

    • DC Comics
    • The LEGO Movie
    • Lord Of The Rings
    • Doctor Who
    • Back To The Future
    • The Wizard Of Oz
    • Portal

    Very little of:

    • Ghostbusters
    • Ninjago
    • Legends Of Chima
    • Jurassic World
    • The Simpsons
    • Scooby Doo

    And nothing from:

    • Midway Arcade
    ExpansionPack_International_GhostbustersFunPack2_71241_1438670563

With almost two full months left until its September 27th release, I figure we’ll see more trailers with more stuff and things. My anticipation for this game is bubbling over and my family are already crying to have them all, so Ace will need to give me a raise.
