No big surprises from this theme. I’m still bummed there’s not a Batwing set from the Movie but who knows, maybe there’s a exclusive of it coming down the line at some point. The Sea Cow reveal was in one of those cases they used at Comic Con, so all the pics I took have this white filmy texture. Thankfully, LEGO has sent over the official clean images this morning so the Sea Cow section will be rife with pics. There’s also a press release for the official announcement. Because of all that, I’ve placed the Sea Cow set at the bottom of the post, even though numerically they should be first. Enjoy!

Toy Fair Report: LEGO Star Wars
With practically every March-release set focusing on Episode III, the August wave gives us OT fans a great selection of sets. If you want to avoid spoilers for the Advent Calendar, they are listed last, so avoid scrolling any further past the Star Destroyer images. I’ll save the commentary for later, for now, enjoy the photo dump.

Toy Fair Report: 76022 X-Men 1

Available in JuneWe purposefully forewent covering any sets that were scheduled for March, this includes Super Heroes, and Star Wars, simply because they should already be hitting store shelves right now. This was the only Super Heroes set revealed at the show that wasn’t slated for March, 76022 X-Men 1, which is probably a working title. Not even a new Batman set was shown. Some observations: The Sentinel makes great use of the new micro ball joints found prominently in the Mixels line. Storm’s cape was made of a fabric material that was different than the normal material used for previously seen capes. Also, her cape actually attaches at her wrists. This is a great minifigure of Ororo Munroe of her original costume. Now that being said since it is not mohawk Storm, I am still disappointed. Cyclops looks good, but feels a little lazy. A custom headpiece with an actual visor would have been nice. Wolverine looks fantastic with a new headprint that is doublesided. One side looks like he is wearing shades or a visor, which may look a little funny, but makes total sense once you put his mask on. THIS IS WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE WITH BATMAN. The jet is a good size and can fit all of the minifigs. It has a nice heft with a high swoosh factor. Anyways, on to the pictures:

Toy Fair Report: More Images of 21108 LEGO Ghostbusters
Thanks to Ken for staying on top of this and also for giving me a direction on what theme to start with. The Ecto-1 is just amazing. Sure, it doesn’t have the lighting that the original CUUSOO submission had, and there are a few other minor construction differences like the way the hood and nose is constructed, but aside from those minor quibbles, this set is simply awesome. What we saw in the showroom was the final model and it does not disappoint. You can pick up this set starting in June of this year and it will cost you $49.99 for 508 pieces. 21108 LEGO Ghostbusters Set Revealed at ToyFair New York
No doubt Ace will have pictures of this set later today, but I can’t wait to share yet another slice of 80’s pop culture brought to life in the form of LEGO. Apparently, the CUUSOO team has been working overtime to have this beauty ready for purchase June 2014 for USD $49.99 / CAD $59.99.

This fun and iconic vehicle from the blockbusting ‘80s movie is fully loaded with all the paranormal detection equipment needed to track down those ghastly ghosts. It also features cool Ghostbusters logo decoration, removable roof, tracking computer and seats for 3 minifigures.

Marvel.com unveils first Guardians of the Galaxy set
Lego’s press pre-show event for Toy Fair is still a few hours away, and Ace will be out covering everything he can. Meanwhile Marvel.com has given us the first of three reported GOTG sets for the upcoming film:
With Toy Fair coming up this weekend, we’ve got your first look at one of three upcoming LEGO sets from Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the Milano Spaceship Rescue set!
Get a look at the set, debuting in stores this June, directly below with your first glimps of Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax and Ronan in LEGO form! In addition, the set will also include a Sakaaran Soldier, and will consist of 665 pieces priced at $74.99.
I kind of expected this one after seeing the toys Hasbro is planning for the movie, and my money says Rocket’s starfighter will be one of the two remaining models Lego is making. The third is still anyone’s guess. -
Clone Wars Season 6 coming to Netflix March 7th
Bummed that Disney took a big axe to Clone Wars before the series could be wrapped up? Well, if you have Netflix, you’re in luck (if you’re like me and rely on Amazon Prime now… well, we’re out of luck). I’ll be honest, Clone War is on a long list of shows I’ve never gotten around to watching (see also: Lost, The Sopranos, Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother… this list could get lengthy), but unlike a lot of shows on the list, I intend to someday. While I won’t miss the faces on minifigures, some of the Clone Wars sets had really started to improve in recent years, so hopefully Rebels can fill in the void!

New Hi-Res Shots of Rebels sets
Need a pre-Toy Fair taste of news that’s coming up? How about some hi-res images of the upcoming sets, via the Yak Face forums?
First up we have The Ghost, a large ship that features some interesting building with a distinctly Star Wars look and a lot of different cockpit canopies. Also, three new minifigs, Zeb Orrelios, Hera Syndulla, and Kanan Jarrus, as well as a Storm Trooper. I’m especially excited for Zeb, and not just because his last name makes me want to go grab some cookies!
Next up, we have The Phantom, which strikes me as a bit less Star Wars-y (you put some different colors on there and that’s Galaxy Squad), but features Ezra Bridger and C1-10P. The most interesting thing here is that our little astromech buddy has an obviously shorter torso and legs, meaning that he’s quite a bit shorter than his minifig buddy. The cockpit glass also stands out, and I wonder if that front marking is a sticker or printed…
We still don’t know a whole lot about Rebels, but if the ships are any indication, or the figures, it should be a decent successor to Clone Wars.

New Sets Hitting LEGO Brand Retail Early
Site fan Zach wrote in to say that he saw and was able to purchase several new sets from his local LEGO Brand Retail location in Illinois. His haul included one of the two remaining
DC Super HeroesBatman sets, 76013 Batman: The Joker Steam Roller, Marvel Super Heroes set 76018 Hulk Lab Smash, Star Wars sets 75032 X-Wing Fighter and 75040 General Grievous Wheel Bike.Chat room regular murphquake also let us know that the retail stores have been given the green light to immediately sell any new sets they receive without having to wait for the 17th or any other arbitrary street date. ReBrick Hosts LEGO Movie Alt Model Building Contest
LEGO’s own social site, ReBrick, is hosting an alternate model building competition titled “Be The Special” in the spirit of The LEGO Move. Just take any official LEGO set and build an alternate model. Submit your entry by 8:59am EST March 31, 2014, get the most number of votes, and you can win a “limited edition gold-colored Emmet statuette, not available in retail and only available though official LEGO competitions”. The other prizes for first include an exclusive LEGO Movie PR tin containing nine LEGO Minifigures and a LARGE LEGO Movie Set not yet officially revealed, signed by the designer.
