But today is the day that LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded comes out. For those of you who already pre-ordered from Amazon, you should be getting your books today if you haven’t already gotten them by now. For everyone else, you can order it today for the low price of $13.53. The book comes with a McQuarrie concept-style white Boba Fett using the newer style Mandalorian armor. Character Encyclopedia Gets Updated, Includes New Style White Prototype Boba Fett

At least he is revealed! For those of you collecting Boba Fett minifigures, you should know there is one more to add to your collection. StarWars.com today announced the update to the much-loved Character Encyclopedia, called LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded, and the included bonus figure is a white Boba Fett. He is similar to the previous white Fett but is now using the new style molds for the helmet and backpack. The updated and expanded book includes 72 extra pages and includes minifigures through 2015.

Like the last book, FBTB had a hand in editing and fact-checking the book. But because of the tight deadlines, I’m curious to see if all of the edits were made or not.

The book will be released on April 28, 2015 and can be pre-ordered from Amazon. The current pre-order price as of this writing is $14.47 and is subject to Amazon’s Pre-order Price Guarantee. Should the price fall below the price you pre-ordered at, you will get the lowest price automatically.

You can check out more pictures and the full article at StarWars.com. Thanks to Gooker1 for the heads up.

LEGOLand California held their annual Star Wars Days this past weekend August 7th and 8th and what a glorious weekend it was! The AFOL community was well-represented by SANDLUG and LUGOLA with members driving in from as far as Fresno, CA and Las Vegas, NV. With this year being the 30th anniversary of Episode V, there was a slight emphasis on Empire-based MOCs. (more…)

  • How To Get A White Boba Fett At San Diego Comic Con, Celebration V

How To Get A White Boba Fett At San Diego Comic Con, Celebration V

Want one? Going to SDCC or CV? Well, I just got passed some details on LEGO’s plans to distribute a limited supply of the highly coveted White Boba Fett figure at San Diego Comic Con and at Star Wars Celebration V.

San Diego Comic Con: LEGO is working with the 501st Legion to help distribute the figures. These will not be available at LEGO’s booth. Supplies are limited. No further details yet. It may involve participating in their popular Droid Hunt activity they seem to do at every convention where they have a presence. If I get anymore info, I’ll post here.

Star Wars Celebration V: Those participating in the community mural build will be awarded a White Boba Fett figure for their efforts. Again, supplies are limited. More details to come.

White Boba Fett, Product Book, Chrome Stormtrooper News

I found out some more information regarding the white Boba Fett minifig that was passed out at Toy Fair, along with some other tidbits.

    White Boba Fett

    • The white Boba Fett figure was the result of a brainstorm idea as an answer to the question of “What would a prototype minifig look like?” They picked a cool figure and came up with the color white to use as the test shot.
    • 10,000 figures will be available for the North American market, less than 20,000 globally
    • The top 100 Shop@Home customers will be given one Fett and one 2010 product booklet (same one that was given out to Toy Fair attendees) for free. Top 100 recipients will be determined by sales records of LEGO Star Wars products. Update: I’ve just been informed that this is not true. Stay tuned for details.
    • They will NOT show up randomly inserted in 2010 sets.
    • Some Fetts will be given away at San Diego Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration V and possibly fan-held LEGO conventions. They will not be given away at LEGO’s booth, so don’t flood their booth asking how to get/buy/steal/borrow one. Exact details on how they will be distributed to be determined.
    • The white Fetts are intended for fans, so the distribution plan will not follow previous limited figures such as C-3PO or Darth Vader, or even the Stormtrooper. LEGO is figuring things out as they go along.
    • A white Boba Fett keychain was also produced, a limited run of about 100. These were given out as gifts from LEGO executives.

    2010 Product Book

    • The 2010 product booklet had a limited print run of about 2,000. A few were available to FAO Schwartz customers at the end of December last year. I’m pretty sure this is limited to New York seeing as to how that’s the only retail FAO that’s still up and running.

    Chrome Stormtrooper Polybag

    • The Chrome Stormtrooper polybag is an international Toys’R’Us exclusive. For countries that do not have a TRU, there may another means available to acquire the figure; details are unknown at this time.
    • As reported before, Spain TRU stores have started their promotion where if you spend 30 Euro on LEGO Star Wars, you receive the polybagged minifig for free.
    • U.S. TRU stores will begin their promotion on or around October.

As usual, FBTB will try to stay on top of the news on how you can try to get any of the exclusives.

  • Toy Fair 2010

    Toy Fair 2010

The FBTB flickr account is being injected with my photos from the Collector’s Event this morning. I’ll be creating a Features page to make it easier to navigate once the upload is done. In the meantime, you can dial your browser to the stream to see uploads as they go. I apologize, but the hotel wifi isn’t the fastest. I miss my home connection.

And in case you missed it, there were two premiums in the goodie bag this year. One was a Buzz Lightyear Cube Dude, designed by none other than Angus MacLane himself, signed and numbered, natch:

And the other was an all-white Boba Fett minifig:
