LEGO Black Friday VIP Weekend 2021 Is Coming Up

LEGO revealed details of their Black Friday Preview VIP Weekend deals. As in years past, LEGO is offering early access to their Black Friday promotions a weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday. And it’s not great. That opinion is solely based on this one promo:

    Retro Tin Sign

This is a free gift with purchase (GWP) of $250 or more. $250? Really? It just doesn’t seem worth it and does the exact opposite of enticing me to buy anything. The fact the sign is sitting on a shelf and not hung on a wall makes me believe it really is just a piece of tin with no easy way to hang it up.

    Santa’s Front Yard

This vignette is a GWP with $170 or more purchase. Better than the tin sign at least but kind of easily passable if you ask me. The North Pole sticker might be the best thing about this set.

    Vintage Camera

By far the best promo is this vintage camera set and you don’t even need to buy a minimum amount of LEGO to get it. You just need to redeem 2,000 VIP points to get it. If there is anything to get at the stroke of midnight, this would be it. Everything else though you can wait until the actual Black Friday promo starts.

    Double VIP Points

As a VIP member, enjoy double points on all purchases all weekend long.

    Reward Center Sale

Not sure what the “sale” entails but I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s not worth wasting your time on. I would definitely focus on getting the camera first and then maybe checking out how much they discounted coloring sheets.

As with all promotions, the offers are good while supplies last. They kick off I assume at the stroke of midnight on November 20, 2021 (9pm Pacific / 12am Eastern) and end 48 hours later on November 21, 2021. The camera really is the only thing that worth trying to get this weekend. Everything else can be had without much thought or effort when you buy the AT-AT set.

  • Black Friday 2014 Megapost

    Black Friday 2014 Megapost

So Black Friday is a bit of a mess this year with retailers putting out “Black Friday” deals all month long. Couple that with the fact that many big name retailers are starting the holiday shopping weekend on Thursday instead of Friday and you get the idea. Retailers are competing for your dollars so starting sales earlier and earlier is one way to claim as big of a piece of that money pie as possible.

There have been a few notable deals that started this earlier this month, like Benny’s Spaceship at Walmart for $80, and a few others that trickled in as the days went by. I missed posting and shopping for the Walmart clearance sale due to being slammed at work, so I apologize to you, loyal readers, for not posting the sales info but hopefully you got word from elsewhere and were able to take advantage.

I’ve compiled all of the Black Friday weekend deals that I could find that mentioned LEGO from around the country. I’ll be honest: if you’re looking to score a good deal, you may be waiting a very long time for one that may not be that great. Good deals on good sets are becoming increasingly difficult to not only find but to take advantage of. That being said, out of all the ads I’ve listed, Target seems to have a pretty decent selection. And Walgreens apparently has a blanket 20% off discount for LEGO, including all the minifigures they may still have on their shelves. LEGO Shop@Home UK blows everyone out of the water though but doesn’t really to the people this post is catered towards. Shop@Home US should take a page out of their playbook, the one called “This is how you Black Friday.”

One major trend in this year’s Black Friday ads is that there is a heavy emphasis on the movie and the video games. Pretty much anywhere you look, you’re bound to find a deal on the movie where you can snag the Blu-ray for $10 or less. And video games are priced pretty evenly across the board for all platforms for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and The LEGO Movie.

Before we move onto the list though, I want to say something. I’ve been with this site since I discovered it a long time ago while I was working at UCLA some 15 odd years ago. In that time, I’ve grown up, gotten married, and started a family. We’ve had our ups and our downs and people come and go. For those of you that have stuck with the site through thick and thin, I cannot thank you enough. For those of you that are relatively new, I welcome you and thank you for your continued support. So, as much as I hate to do this, if you want to skip my sales pitch, just hit the link below. Else, I’ll continue with my shpeal. Like all businesses, this site is dependent on sales through the holidays to keep us going throughout the year in the shape of referrals to online stores. If you do any sort of online shopping, I humbly ask that you replace your bookmarks with any of following links (right-click, “Add to bookmark”:

Barnes&Noble.com www.gamestop.com FREE Shippin on any order of $75 or more any time! Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

And the next time you’re doing some online shopping, click through your new bookmark before you make your purchase. It costs you nothing more than a click and we get a little kickback here to help keep things running. We sincerely thank you.

    Onto the list!

  • Update: Black Friday LEGO Deals

    Update: Black Friday LEGO Deals

image courtesy of Las Vegas Guardian Express

There isn’t much in the way of new updates for Black Friday. I’ve updated this post with new entries: LEGO Shop@Home and Brand Retail discounts, as well as Walmart’s blanket discount of 30% off all LEGO from 8am to 2pm. Still don’t know what BN is offering if anything.

By the time you read this, some retailers are already offering their Black Friday deals online, like Target, Walmart, and Best Buy. And no, the 30% discount is being reflected on Walmart.com.

To see our complete list of Black Friday LEGO deals, check out the original post. If anything changes between now and Friday, I’ll make another update and another post.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  • Walmart Offers 30% Discount On All LEGO For Black Friday

Walmart Offers 30% Discount On All LEGO For Black Friday

BFAds.net is reporting that Walmart is adding a “Manager’s Special” section to their Black Friday flyer. One part in particular seems enough to get the AFOL masses into their store: 30% off all LEGO Construction toys. This deal is good from 8am to 2pm on Friday. There is no indication that the deal will be honored online but it won’t hurt to check.

Thanks to thegremlin for posting it in our forum.

  • LEGO Shop@Home Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals

LEGO Shop@Home Black Friday and Cyber Monday Deals

LEGO Shop@Home sent out their Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals. Black Friday deals begin Thursday 9pm Pacific/Friday 12am Eastern. Not a whole lot to get excited over. It seems that the next biggest thing that was supposed to be bigger than Ninjago (Chima) isn’t doing so well. I can’t imagine why else what looks like the entire line would be marked down 50%. On the licensed, not many good deals to be had. Still, take a look at the list if you’re interested.

There are also several promotions you can take advantage of:

FREE Limited Edition Holiday Set with purchase of $99 or more.
Valid Nov 29th – Dec 2nd or while supplies last

FREE $10 Gift Card with purchase of $149 or more (Online Only).
Valid Nov 29th – Dec 2nd or while supplies last.

FREE Shipping on all orders (no minimum).
    Valid Nov 29th – Dec 2nd

Receive a Free THE LEGO® MOVIE™ poster sticker to customize your Palace Cinema.
Valid: through Dec 31st or while supplies last.

FREE Exclusive Clone Trooper™ Lieutenant with LEGO® Star Wars™ purchases of $50 or more!
Valid: through Dec 31st or while supplies last

And with that, onto the deals:

    Updated: Thursday 2:23am

Like last year, I’ve taken the time to compile a list of all of the Black Friday LEGO deals from most of the major retailers.

There aren’t a lot of great deals to be had. Most of them revolve around the LEGO video games and the deals that are available as of this writing are almost not worth leaving the house for in my opinion. There is one notable exception to this list and that is LEGO Shop@Home’s deals which haven’t been communicated yet. I’ll be updating this post throughout the week though as more retailers publish their deals, so bookmark it or keep checking back.

    Update: Added Toys’R’Us, Meijer, Overstock

Just like last year, I’ll be compiling all of the Black Friday deal that mentions LEGO into one post. Forum member ufjason already started a thread about it and from the looks of it, there aren’t any wallet-breaking deals that are worth going after. I’ll be updating this list as more ads come in so keep an eye out.

  • Black Friday LEGO Deals 2011

Update 11/21: Fred Meyer and Walgreens have been added.

Here’s our annual report on Black Friday ads mentioning LEGO. The deals are pretty lackluster compared to previous years no doubt due to LEGO’s rising popularity. Still, if you’re out and about and manage to find yourself at any of the retailers below, you might be able to score something. Some deals are good only for a few hours, some all day or all weekend. I’ve made a note of wh I’ve also listed the store hours where available. Most of the deals are for in store only. Cyber Monday should bring a few more deals around. We’ll be updating this post as more info trickles in. All information should be solidifed by Wednesday night so check back often. If you have sales news to share, hit us up through our contact page.

Also, they are advertising that their Black Friday deals has already started. You might be able to score some deals online.

  • LEGO Brick Friday Event

Did you get one of these in the mail?

    Yeah, me neither.

LEGO sent out invitations to a select few VIP members to partake in a special pre-Black Friday shopping event. Forum member that guy received such an invitation and posted the following details:

Not sure if this was posted here yet but I got a special invitiation in the snail mail that said I was number 1 of ‘xx’ people (less than 30 but I prefer not to say exactly lest I be pointed out at my particualr location) chosen to attend a before hours event on the 19th. No mention of the actual discounts yet but it said I had to RSVP before the 17th. Here’s what the note said.

“As one of our most valued LEGO VIP Members, you are cordially invited to an exclusive Holiday shopping event just for you at the LEGO Store! We are opening your local LEGO Store early for an invitation-only event that will allow you and one guest the opportunity to take advantage of all of our extraordinary “Brick” Friday offers before they are available to the public!”

The card says the VIP Card and photo ID are required for admittance. One free limited holiday set per person with $99 purchase. Spending limit is $5000 pre sale prices and may not purchase more than 5 of one item.

When I called to RSVP they wouldn’t give me really any more info than that but I got the feeling they really didn’t know yet either. They said they just got their list of VIPs a few days ago. I guess we will wait and see.

If you weren’t one of the fortunate few to get the invite in the mail, fear not, for there is some reprieve in the shape of an online sale. This was passed along in my LUG’s mailing list:

    Good Morning LEGO Fans,

Please allow me to provide a bit of information and clarification on the upcoming LEGO Brand Retail “Brick Friday” VIP Preshop event. As some of you are aware, a handful of fans who are in close proximity to our stores have received invitations to attend an exclusive “invitation-only holiday shopping event.” I have reached out to the Brand Retail team here in Enfield in order to obtain and share the following information to help clarify why some received these invitations and others did not:

Q: How were the VIP members chosen?

A: They were selected on the basis they were in the top 25 VIP members for their local store based on engagement and purchases since joining LEGO VIP and part of the top 5% of VIPs globally.

Q: What about VIP members who didn’t get an invite?

A: All LEGO VIPs will be allowed early access through Shop.LEGO.com on Saturday, November 19th so even if they did not receive a LEGO Store invite, they will still be able to shop early and receive all of the Black Friday deals and promotions.

Q: What type of specials are the LBR Stores offering for “Brick Friday?”

    A:
    · 10% off of all purchases over $149.
    · Free Gift with Purchase Holiday Set 2 (https://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3300002-1) with purchases over $99‐ Limit one per person.
    · Free Holiday Pick-a-Brick Box with purchases over $75.
    · Pull Cards (scratch cards) for all guests, increments of 10%, 25% & 50% off entire purchase.
    · The Holiday Gift with Purchase Set 1 (https://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3300020-1) on sale for $9.99 during the event.

Please feel free to share this information amongst your groups. I hope this helps provide better clarification, but please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Obviously if you shop online you won’t be able to get the scratch card. The one question I have is if the scratch card discount stacks with the 10% off all purchases over $149, effectively making it a 20%/35%/60% discount. My guess is no.
