With the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on Blu-ray/DVD tomorrow, and Target having their exclusive version that comes with an exclusive Bilbo Baggins minifigure, and with the announcement of the exclusive Special Forces Commander Clone Trooper minifigure included with The Yoda Chronicles book, I figured now would be as good of a time as any to make a checklist for all the exclusive minifigs that came with a book, video game, or Blu-ray/DVD release.

I don’t play as many video games as I used to and the game time I do have is usually reserved for old favourites and anything I can play with my son. LEGO Batman 2 falls within both of these catagories and while it definitely follows the same formula we’ve seen in the previous LEGO games, it also strays into uncharted LEGO territory with a couple of new features. I along with many of you have been playing these games for years now across their many iterations and there have been few prior changes in the grand scheme, so do these updates hurt or hinder a game that already seemed like it had the potential to be an improvement over the original?
In case you have haven’t pre-ordered/ordered/bought LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes yet, I’ve compiled a list of reviews the game is receiving from various outlets. So far, it looks like TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive have another hit on their hands.
Don’t let the still image fool you. At first I just thought it was some person holding the plastic arm and extending the Superman minifig over the city from a rooftop. Boy, was I wrong. To promote the release of LEOG Batman 2, the Superman minifig was attached to a remote control helicopter and flown around the city of London over 500 feet in the air. This makes me wonder how they managed to get Supes to flatten out like that. An articulated arm would have been cool to see the minifig roll while in midair. Now we just need one of him flying around New York City.
Own a 3DS? Can’t wait for the next iteration of LEGO Batman? Nintendo has you covered with a downloadable demo of the game that was made available earlier this week during E3. Fans can check out a preview above or click through to IGN and then head over to the Nintendo eShop on your 3DS to begin the download. The LEGO Batman 2 game is schedule for release for Tuesday June 19.
Been a bit negligent on posting lately, let a lot of stuff slide by and that probably won’t change anytime soon, but Batman really doesn’t deserve that type of treatment. It’s easy for him to get lost in all the Avengers hype right now, so here’s a bit of a Bat-news roundup.
The LEGO Batman: Visual Dictionary (LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes) book from DK Publishing is now available for pre-order and the exclusive minfig that will come with it has been revealed to be Electro Suit Batman from the upcoming video game. I didn’t think there were enough sets and such to fill a book yet, but based on the images like the one below and the fig, I’m in.
Speaking of the video game, ComicBookMovie.com did a report on some info in the latest issue of Game Informer Magazine with some interesting new details about the upcoming LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes game. I’ve cobbled together the relevant info and included it after the jump and you can pre-order the book or the game from Amazon by clicking the pics above.
Toys ‘R’ Us is currently offering the upcoming LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes at a surprisingly decent discount of 25% off. On top of that, they’re offering free shipping on pre-orders. There’s no telling how long this will last and there’s no bonus minifigure or downloadable characters, but if you prefer to save money, this deal might be the better choice (it’s tough, I know). Oh, and PC users, you’ll have to look elsewhere for a deal. Toys ‘R’ Us doesn’t list that version. Then again, neither does Gamestop. The game is available on Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, Wii, DS, 3DS, and releases June 19th.
The Australian EB Games site is blazing the trail again being the first to offer another bonus with the pre-order of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. In addition to the sweet power armour Lex Luthor figure you can also get a ‘5 Villain Pack’ that includes Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam, Black Manta and the fan favourite Bizzaro. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, this offer only applies to PS3 and Xbox users which is disappointing for the rest of us who may never get to play as some of these iconic villains. I have little doubt this will pop up for the the rest of us soon so keep your eyes out if you haven’t pre-order this already.
The artwork for the LEGO Batman 2 game has been finalized and I was a bit surprised because I actually prefered the team-up style picture of Superman and Batman they’ve been using as a place holder. At this point I’m guessing that Lex Luthor’s inclusion on the cover and exclusive fig mean that he will be the overall ‘big bad’ in this game, but it wouldn’t be the first time he used his considerable wealth and intellect to band all of Gotham’s villains together to rid the world of capes.
You can still get the powersuit Lex fig with the pre-order links in the forum, but get in to get it quick when the game comes out as they have a habit of coming up short on the bonuses.
