Final voted ended up being easier than I thought it would considering who I thought would/wouldn't go through. Still difficult to choose a single entry though, and wish I'd had another vote to give. Oh well.

Aaaannnyyyyyyyyhow, best of luck to you five, congrats for getting this far anyway.

Two of my top four made it through to the final round but this vote was still easy for me as even if all four were here there was always a clear 1st place in my mind.

That said there have been some awesome Chibi entries that I will enjoy recreating.

Decisions, decisions... :x
I got it narrowed down to three. It still was a hard decision. Good Luck to all 5 of you contestants! :D

Congrats to the finalists, this was definitely an entertaining contest.

The few "clear winner" comments are intriguing because none of my first-round votes made it to the finals (d'oh!), and each one was absolutely chibi to me as well as being a great build. I guess it all boils down to each person's definition and view of chibi, as that seemed fairly open to various amounts of interpretation throughout the contest.

MY vote goes to cute little CHIBI AT-AT. :)

For those that haven't seen it, check out the video of the AT-TE entry that shows it's ability to actually walk with a Lego motor.

I love the design of all the finalists, but articulation given the small scale makes the AT-TE a clear choice for me.

The AT-TE walks, not the AT-AT.

I realized that and tried to delete my post but you was too fast!
Shouldn't you be bossing around Viper techs or something? :)

I definitely agree with you there, for me it was finalists #3 & 4 with my finalist vote going to #3. If the AT-TE didn't actually walk then I would have had a tough time choosing to be honest.

For me one of the defining characteristics is that neither on of them is really all that distorted, but mostly scaled down. If you look at the TIE Advanced from the MF DS you will notice that it doesn't come off as really distorted either and that's one of the things I like most about it. Since it's the inspiration for the contest I fell the entrants who follow that design ideal are closer to the spirit of the contest (as I understand it).

You could argue that both of the mentioned entries have distorted cockpits and you'd be right but neither of them appears to be distorted or squished.

But that's just one Bothan's opinion on the topic.

It's so interesting that you went that way with it, as I went completely opposite, judging based on my understanding of what "Chibi" means, namely, making something look "juvenile" with a larger head, squat "legs" or whatever can stand in for that, etc. It will be interesting to see what wins out, the "scalies" or the "squishies."

For sure, if you look at the Final Five (BSG reference not intended) you'll see that it's split right down the middle.

The JSF is right in the middle, kinda fits both as the canopy is a bit on the large side BUT that ship has a large canopy (just not that large).

The AT-TE & one of the X-wings are Scalies and the AT-AT & other X-Wing are definitely Squishies.

Regardless I'd say the FBTB community as a whole is a winner with this contest, I'm planning to build several of the entries myself.

I didn't really get why they used the Death Star TIE Advance as the "mascot" when it isn't chibi, just scaled down, so I was going more for the chibi distorted look for my choice, which ruled out Toht's X-Wing and the AT-TE. The AT-AT, being animal like, was too easy to make chibi (even if the build itself is really well done) so that was out, and the other X-Wing looked more chubby than chibi. Distorted, sure, but not chibi. Clear winner from these five for me was the JSF.

^^^This was the exact same thought process I took when voting. I too thought that the AT-AT was a great build, but I penalized it for it being what I would imagine as the easiest vehicle in the SW universe to chibify. Thus, I also went with Obi's JSF.

When i picked my 3 picks in the last round, i ignored all the models using the same cockpit/screen as there full size counterpart, Only on futher inspection did i realise obis JSF was a smaller version and he would of got my 3rd vote
Out of my 3 picks - 2 made it and 1 to me is a personal favourite and thus got my final vote
The contest theme is chibi- making something smaller, cuter and in a super deformed way , and only a few stood out for capturing the theme to me, So well done to those who did such a great job
Best of luck to all and a big Gratz for been in the finals
