PokéMondays: Catching Shiny Vanilla Pokémon In Ultra Space Wilds Is Too Easy

I decided to take a break one night from Shiny Eevee hunting and go surfing around the Ultra Space Wilds. If you travel far enough and go through the fanciest and most decorated warp hole, you have a substantially increased chance of getting a shiny Pokémon. Even if you don’t go far and go through a plain-looking warp hole, your base chance starts at 1%, which is still much higher than shiny charm odds, and can go as high as 36%! The Pokémon you encounter here aren’t part of the Alolan Pokédex, but that didn’t really matter to me. I just wanted to see how much easier it was. Well, within 20 minutes I got my first catch:

Shiny Swellow

A few minutes after that I got,

Shiny Audino

And then,

Shiny Lombre

Shiny Lombre was third. I’ll have to pick up a second to evolve one into Shiny Ludicolo. And finally,

Shiny Grumpig

I ended my run with a shiny Grumpig. Not bad for about two hours worth of work. The kinds of non-legendary Pokémon you can encounter in through the Ultra Space Wilds is limited to just a handful from the National Pokédex, but looking at the long game, this will cut down on some of the work to fill out a shiny living version. This was almost too easy though and to be honest, if catching shinies was this easy, I don’t think I’d have ever started this little project. I’ll tolerate the increased odds from Ultra Space Wilds to get the available Pokémon though. I may be a masochist but I’m not THAT much of a masochist.

Side note: the motion controls for guiding Solgaleo or Lunala during an ultra warp ride is utter garbage. Thank god they included a method for enabling circle pad controls.
