THIS is the other video I was referring to in this post. This particular video for The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening originally came from the Nintendo Direct a few weeks ago. I never played the original so I am definitely looking forward to the remake.
When I was deep, deep, deep into Breath of the Wild, I wondered what Nintendo could possibly do to follow-up on the greatest Zelda game of all time. I mean, how could any game from the same franchise even compare? This is how. Nintendo’s done remakes before, but it never occurred to me that that would be the next logical step. And I gotta tell you, I am excited. Nick said that it looks like a mashup of a Zelda game and the style of the Let’s Go! Pokémon games and I couldn’t agree more. If melding the two was intentional in a grand plot to get Pokémon Go! players to consider playing Zelda, it is a genius move on Nintendo’s part. And if that wasn’t the plan, then, as Bob Ross would put it, it’s just a happy little accident.
The whole direct is worth watching. If you’re a fan of Super Mario Maker, the sequel for Nintendo Switch has a ton of improvements over the original including the ability for characters to slide down slopes. You can view it, along with trailers for other games, below:
