Review: 71004 LEGO Minifigures – The LEGO Movie Series

71004 LEGO Minifiures – The LEGO Movie Series is the 12th series in the Collectible Minifigures line, and the first licensed series. Being based on the movie, and not having seen the movie yet, I can only assume that aside from the obvious main characters, the rest of the minifigs in the line up are secondary or tertiary supporting cast members. Still, they are generic enough to pass off as just another CMF line except for the three robot figures.

    Review: 70808 Super Cycle Chase

There have been a few times where LEGO has made “versus” sets and have that idea run rampant throughout the theme. Space Police III, Galaxy Squad, and DC Universe Super Heroes are a few examples of this and The LEGO Movie sets are following suit. Normally this means that in a set, you would get a GREAT main model, and then a laughably smaller set so that the good guys can fight the bad guys. I personally can’t stand this approach as I would rather have the element count used for the small model be used to make a better main model. This is true for Space Police III and Galaxy Squad. DC Universe Super Heroes faired a little better, but in the end you still ended up with two medium-sized, mediocre models instead of one really great model in most of those sets.

    The LEGO Movie Megafigures

Forum member Gooker1 emailed me today these set of pictures showing promotional megafigures for The LEGO Movie found at his local AMC theaters. I’m sure everyone’s drooling over Batman, but I’d take that Wyldstyle in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, they will eventually go back to the studio. What happens to them after that will be a mystery. I’m sure though that they will end up in the hands of a lucky duck or two.

    The LEGO Movie Sets Revealed

LEGO has revealed all of The LEGO Movie sets on their Google+ page as well as the microsite. Now that we can see the full gamut of sets, these look to be some of the most fun and creative sets made. Some people have compared them to the parts-dump themes like Time Twisters, but these don’t strike me as being a parts-dump. I don’t have much of an opinion of the flying castle, but the ice cream truck and recycling truck look fantastic. These images also more or less confirm what I suspected all along in that there are alternate model builds for some of the sets.

I’ve included all previous images published before into the gallery below so that you can see everything at once. Enjoy!
