    Set Your DVRs: Cartoon Network To Air LEGO DC Comics: Batman Be-Leaguered Special

    Apparently news broke about this a couple of days ago but nothing made it across my desk until earlier tonight. On Monday October 27th at 6pm/5pm Central, Cartoon Network will air a special one-shot LEGO DC Super Heroes special called Batman: Be-Leaguered. The listing has the synopsis as follows: “Superman wants Batman to join his new superhero team, but Batman prides himself on being a self-sufficient loner.” There’s a 30 second trailer for the 30 minute special posted below.

    Remember that Batsignal build event at Toys’R’Us? I didn’t make it in time but managed to scrounge up enough parts to make one thanks to instructions being posted in eBay auctions. I guess there was a comic book giveaway as well. Anyways, the reason I bring this up is because that build event was a promotional event hyping up the upcoming special if this tweet is to be believed.

    Batsignal Build Event at Toys’R’Us This Saturday 10/18

    Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday, Toys’R’Us stores will be hosting a build and take event where you can build the above pictured Batsignal. Now THIS I am looking forward to! The event is from 12-2pm but get there early because I’d like to believe that this would be more popular than the micro Ghost event last week. The event is for children ages 5 and up. Finally. Having kids is starting to pay off.

    Also, Bricktober blah blah blah $75 micro CITY set blah blah rant blah.

    Toys’R’Us Build and Take Star Wars Rebels Event This Saturday 10/11

    This Saturday at your local Toys’R’Us stores sees the first of two in-store LEGO build events. On October 11th, from 12-2pm, you can build the above picture micro Ghost ship. It is the best version of the Ghost ever made because of it’s small size and the fact that it is free. The event is intended for children 5 and up. It is advisable to get there early as the stores will have limited supplies.

    The second event is to build the Batsignal and that one will be held the following week on October 18 from 12-2pm. We will be posting a reminder for it next week.

    Also, this is the first week of Toys’R’Us’ Bricktober promotion. Spend $75 ore more on LEGO sets and get the micro CITY set. Get a different set each week for four weeks. As I’ve ranted before, these are not the same as the mini modular buildings set from a while ago.

  • Project Azazel’s The Batman Rooftop Vig

    Project Azazel draws inspiration from Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy for this neat little vignette. It features ol’ Batsy and Commissioner Gordan. While Gordon’s coat and the LifeLites may not be official LEGO elements, he uses them in a way to they enhance the scene rather than become the focus like so many custom parts tend to do in a MOC. My favorite part is the micro-scale buildings in the background giving a sense of perspective. And they way they’re lit really gives a sense of realism; I had to look twice to make sure they were really built out of LEGO.
