We’ve featured DanSto’s LEGO BB-8 model before, and now he’s done us all a huge solid by providing step-by-step instructions on how you can build one yourself. The instructions are in video format below but if you’re looking for a printed copy, you’ll have to purchase BrickJournal 37 for that, which also comes with a handy parts list.

tankm Updates His Star Wars Unikitty Crossover
Unikitty mega fan tankm updated his Star Wars Unikitty crossover project over the weekend and features a bunch of new and very familiar faces. Five new characters join the line-up: Han Solo, Chewbacca, Han Solo in Carbonite Block, Emperor Palpatine, and an Imperial Royal Guard. To date, he’s completed 19 characters and with a universe as vast as Star Wars is, he’s got a lot more source material to draw from.
My favorite is still R2-D2 and C-3PO
You can check out tankm’s flickr stream for more.

Some TFA MOCs To Whet Your Appetite
Less than a day! TFA will be in theaters in LESS THAN A DAY!!! I’m excited so I thought I’d share a couple of pics that popped up in our flickr feed featuring MOCs based The Force Awakens.Pete Corp’s T-70 X-wing, above, is stunning. It’s built for a microfig and while it can’t actually fit a microfig inside, he does have a few shots with one to show scale. Check out his photo stream for more pictures.
Next we have a brick-built Kylo Ren by Kevin Ryhal. He captures Kylo’s imposing presence perfectly. My favorite part has got to be the tiled plates for the lower half of his robe.
And finally we have a trio of droids from Daneil Stoeffler: C-3PO with his now-signature red arm, BB-8, and R2-D2. The BB-8 is particularly nice since it is a modified Lowell sphere utilizing more round plates and tiles than just regular plates.
All good stuff and I for one can’t wait to see more Episode VII MOCs to come in the few days/weeks/months/years!

The BB Stands For Brick-Built
We need to start highlighting more of the amazing builds that the community is putting out there. This may have been posted a while ago but it’s new to me and something I really enjoyed. I always figured someone would brick build a BB-8, and I’m sure it won’t be the last but this is the one that caught my eye. Built by takamichi irie, it seems that he used the Lowell sphere to get BB-8’s shape with a studs out in all directions approach. You can check out the full album where he’s composited his LEGO MOC into a few screen caps from the The Force Awakens trailer.

A New Hope For Uni-Kitty
It’s been a while since I saw a build that tickled me the way these do. Uni-Kitty perfectly tapped into the My Little Pony loving demographic and if there’s something I’ve enjoyed about that group, it’s their love of MLP mash-ups. Uni-Kitty is ripe for the same treatment, but it can be difficult with the exclusivity of her printed faces and the rarely used tail element. Check out the MOC Forum to get a closer look at tankm’s tinkering to bring a little more Galaxy Far, Far Away to the always awesome Uni-Kitty.
Love those Droids.

To The Batmobile!
Now that we’re done with the 80’s, let’s head back to the 60’s. There have been rumours floating for some time now that there will be a D2C Classic Batman Series Batcave released next year. As much as I DO NOT want to spend that kind of dough on such a set, I’d be hard pressed not to sell some blood to get my hands on an official ’66 Batmobile complete with Adam West and Burt Ward Batman & Robin.
Until we see what may unfold, I’ll just have to drool over this lovely beast, by flailx. There are some nice techniques used here for shaping and even if I could do without all the stickers, it still looks great.
Pure. West.

The Ant Whisperer by Powerpig
Chris McVeigh adds another Avenger to his roster of pop culture icon Brick Sketches with Ant-Man. I should have my review out for the movie tomorrow after I recuperate from the weekend, but I had to share this now. Some Avengers Assembled -
Orion Pax Shows Love For Super Hero Movies, Old And New
Orion Pax is an unstoppable juggernaut of pop culture MOCing and in the past few days (or last week since I forgot to post it) he’s revealed builds from super hero movies 25 years apart. The first one to catch my eye was this great version of the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s big screen Batman in ’89. I love this version of Batman’s ride and it probably squeaks ahead of the ’66 version as my personal favourite. The inclusion of the hidden machine gun mounts is the icing on the cake.
Just a couple days before, he posted this great rendition of Star Lord’s mask. It apparently has light bricks to make the eyes pop, but unfortunately there don’t seem to be any pictures of this feature in the dark. Guardians was a success at the box office, but will it stand out 25 years from now, awash in a sea of super hero movies? Or will Star Lord fade back into obscurity, a name no one remembers in a little movie about a talking raccoon and his pet tree.
You can check out his ’89 Batmobile gallery here and his Star Lord Mask here.

Iron Man Gets Bust-ed by ZetoVince
Ever wanted to build a full scale replica of Tony Stark’s Iron Man armour, but didn’t know where to start? Well ZetoVince is half way there in scale and he isn’t even finished. With plans to complete the bust with an ARC reactor and full chest piece, you can bet this build will show up again when he’s completed his work. The LEDs are a nice touch and the articulated neck is as well, but I’m a big fan of the breakdown seen below. I really need to start considering a breakdown for travel and storage when I start my builds from now on.
This would look great next to matching War Machine and Iron Patriot busts, no?

Jon Lazar’s Awesome Super LEGO Friends Project
In a very topical coincidence, given our recent opinion piece on LEGO’s Girl Problem, artist Jon Lazar has been working on a LEGO Super Friends line, aiming to make some of the Friends figures more nerdy and awesome by turning them into customs of a wide variety of DC and Marvel Super Heroines.
You can see more of his stuff on Instagram, or see it covered on The Mary Sue or The Escapist. Let me just be up front, and say I’m considering going out and getting this Jubilee right now. More pictures of the figures after the fold.
