Toy Fair Videos Now Live, Random Musings

Well, my photos may have been slightly over exposed, but my videos came out a little better. Lesson learned: triple check your settings before shooting away. Anyway, I’ve uploaded all the videos I recorded showing some of the play features for some of the sets. Each theme’s post has been updated with their respective videos, or you can click for more to see all of them here in one post.

    Random musings:

    • Scooby-Doo: All of the “villains” in the Scooby-Doo sets have a double-head where one side is the monster and the other reveals the secret identity.
    • Scooby-Doo: Shaggy is the Captain Jack of the theme where each set will have a different expression. I believe that Scooby is also different in each set that he appears in.
    • Jurassic World: My camera settings do not lie: most of the non-named minifig heads and I imagine hands really are that weird orange color.
    • CMF’s: There was no CMF’s on display but from the press release it was confirmed that the next series of minifigs will be a second Simpsons series and that series 14 will be an all-Halloween theme series.
    • Architecture: There was one Architecture set missing from the floor.
    • Marvel: There was a retailer-exclusive Avengers set that was not shown. It is unknown which retailer will get it, but by using the process of elimination and Brickset, we know that the set name is “Burglary at the Hydra Fortress.” That is, no doubt, a direct translation from the German name of the set, so I’m going with “Attack On Hydra Fortress” for now. This is the only set that has Quicksilver.
    • Marvel: I’m disappointed that the Ant-man set did not come with a trophy-scale painted version of Ant-man.
    • Star Wars: The UCS TIE Fighter did not impress me as a $200 set.
    • Star Wars: Early on during the preview event, the Constraction figures had prototype heads. Towards the end, they brought out the final molded pieces. We’ve included pictures of both in our coverage.

There’s probably more things to complain about, I just can’t think of any more of it right now.

Toy News International Reveals 75904 Mystery Mansion

Update: It seems Variety got the scoop on the Mystery Mansion. The image above has been updated with a higher-res version.

Following the announcement of Scooby-Doo this morning, Toy News International, posted some additional pictures of the Mystery Machine as well as the upcoming $89.99 75904 Mystery Mansion. The Mansion set appears to have Velma and Daphne and possibly a new version of Shaggy. Scoobs looks the same but I could very well be wrong.

The images come from TNI, and unfortunately thye have been upscaled, but you get an idea of what they look like. I am working on getting better images which may or may not come through since the Mystery Machine was the only set on the docket to be revealed today.
