    Statue of Liberty Discounted 20%

The Statue of Liberty set from the Architecture series has been seeing some modest discounts, but today it finally fell below the psychological $100 threshold. Originally, $119.99, it is discounted 20% to fall at $95.99 over at Amazon. It’s the same price at Walmart. You can save even a bit more if you’re a Target REDCard holder. They have it listed for $97.99, but after discount and before tax, it falls to $93.09.

    [Toy Fair 2017] Architecture

I have some friends that just adore the Architecture Line, and you can’t deny how nice these look as display pieces. 21036 Arc de Triomphe has my attention for the little statues in white, and it comes in at 386 pieces and a somewhat hefty $39.99 price tag. Available starting on August 1st.

Amazon Discounts 21017 Imperial Hotel by 23%

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen any decent discounts on Architecture sets, but this one is worth mentioning. Amazon currently has 21017 Imperial Hotel discounted down to $100.33 as of this writing. That’s 23% off and just a few pennies north of the magical/psychological threshold of $99.99. The set comes with 1,188 pieces and low slope roof elements in sand green, including the concave “inside corner” element.

Toy Fair Report 2015: LEGO Architecture: 21024 The Louvre

This is an easy one I can pound out while pics are uploading. One set and it’s actually pretty neat I’d say. I’d love to review more of the Achitecture line, but my LEGO budget is tight and leaves little room for these, unfortunately.

  • Review: 21018 United Nations Headquarters

    21018_United_Nations_Headquarters_1

Late last week, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon helped complete a large scale model of the United Nations headquarters as part of the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit focused on “Architects of a Better World.”

The model is based on the upcoming LEGO Architecture set 21018 United Nations Headquarters which goes on sale at LEGO Shop@Home on October 1 with a double VIP points promotion for that month. Or you can buy it right now from Amazon.com for $46.74, a small 7% savings discount as I write this.

It’s a little difficult to review Architecture sets without having personally visited the building that it’s modeled after. The best one can do in that position is to look at pictures online. Thankfully, the instruction booklet can help. Like the instructions found in other Architecture sets, this was a thick booklet offering pictures and words on the history and significance of the building. I thumbed through it briefly, wanting to get straight to the building instructions.

This set seemingly came out of nowhere. Either that or I haven’t been paying that much attention. Soon after I posted about the LEGO Architecture event at select Barnes & Noble stores and the mysterious exclusive set they were touting was it pointed out to me that the set was 21050 Studio. It’s exclusive to Barnes & Noble, so you can only buy it at BN stores and online right now until August 1 where it will be more widely available at Amazon, LEGO Shop@Home, and LEGO Brand Retail.

  • Barnes & Noble LEGO Architecture Studio Event

    Barnes&Noble Event

I’m sort of back after that exhausting Comic Con trip. Still exhausted, but I’m going through my backed up email and saw this come through my feeds. Starting today, July 25 through Sunday July 28, 450 Barnes & Noble locations will host a LEGO Architecture Studio event. There will be a discussion, Q&A, and a building event with some stores hosting a building competition where teams of five compete by building original architectural designs. Most events start at 7:00pm and vary by location. You can hit the BN site to find a participating store near you. Also, I can’t seem to dig up any further details, but there seems to be an exclusive LEGO Architecture set that will only be sold at Barnes & Noble and LEGO Brand Retail stores. Full press release below:

    NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 23, 2013–

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS), the leading retailer of content, digital media and educational products, today announced that 450 Barnes & Noble stores nationwide will host their first-ever LEGO Architecture Studio events and celebrations from July 25-28.

The LEGO Architecture Studio event will feature local architecture experts discussing and demonstrating the parameters and design process in architecture using LEGO bricks to educate and inspire the hands-on building that follows. Participants will have the opportunity to reference the LEGO 250 guide book, experiment and create original architectural designs with more than 1,200 monochromatic building pieces, and learn a few architectural concepts such as scale, mass and density, symmetry, modules and repetition, space and section and surface.
