I agree with the idea that contest entries shouldn't be posted on the front page of site that is hosting the contest, but to tell other forums/blogs what they can and can't post is a little too much censorship personally.

I noticed that... I thought is this the randomizer at work? Have to agree with January & Rook, extra exposure for some is not healthy. Especially for our budding young builders...

All those who have been blogged by the brick brothers have had a lot more viewers then us who have not been blogged. I agree with Januarybegan. Well anyways, good contest, tomorrow is the big day.

Guys, there's not much use in complaining about it. Mocs get posted online, they're gonna get noticed by someone somewhere, and inevitably some get blogged. FBTB keeps it fair and balanced by not blogging any entries, but if you think we're going to start even thinking about dictating what other sites can blog about, dream on. That's just how this internet thing works. Sorry :\

I am simply saying it would be nice if FBTB just asked for entries to be held off on being blogged. Its not like TBB doesn't come here and read articles and follow these competitions. I don't think it is an impossible request. Sure some wouldn't listen, but hey, some would.

OR perhaps entries would be blogged only after the contest? Thought I'd add since we were on the topic. Honestly though, I would feel honored but also kinda bad if my entry would have been blogged only because I want to win the competition on even footing with the other participants.

bottom line is tbb and any other blog out there is free to publish whatever they want. fbtb is not going to start asking other sites to refrain from posting what they want to post and when they want to post it. if tbb had a contest and someone submitted a kickass lego star wars model, you can bet fbtb would be posting about it the second it hit the internet despite whether or not their contest was over.

i feel like we're beating a dead horse here. you can wish all you want, but, like i said earlier, it ain't gonna happen.

Ah but dead horses are the easiest kind to beat =) Seriously though, speaking as one who did get blogged by tbb in this contest, I honestly don't think It's as strong an advantage as some would claim. Sure it feels great to get acknowledged, and get some additional exposure, but at the end of the day, all the acknowledgement and exposure in the world is a poor substitute for superior design, presentation, or a novel idea well executed.

Something to consider: who really thinks a random browser of a blog like TBB will see a specific model for a contest in progress and decide to come to FBTB and sign up for the forum, then jump through the hoops to get approved and wait for the polls to go up, then only vote for that one entry that got blogged without looking at the rest of the models and judging them by their own merits? It just feels like an unrealistic concern.

Whenever a contest entry gets spotlighted somewhere else it's probably before the voting commences and that will draw attention to the contest at large. Sure, that entry will get more views on flickr, that's just what happens when one gets blogged - but that has absolutely no bearing on the outcome contest itself. I don't have any problems with other sites posting competing models during the build phase because someone might see it and decide to make their own to join the fun.
