Amazon is offering 4195 Queen Anne’s Revenge for $98.97, down from $119.99. Need some Imperials for them to fight? 10210 Imperial Flagship would be a worthy opponent. It’s on sale for $149, down from $179.99. It should be noted that its status on LEGO Shop@Home’s website oscillates between “Sold Out” and “Call to check for product availability” signaling it’s end of life status. Amazon’s price is a great deal for one of their finest ship models ever made.

Atlantis is at the end of it’s run and Toys’R'Us Canada is clearing out the largest set of the theme at half off. As a big fan of Atlantis I really enjoyed the 8078 Portal Of Atlantis set I think it’s a no brainer at $64.97. You can also score either the 8083 Rebel Trooper or 8084 Snowtrooper Battle Packs at $7.47.
At the time of this post the three sets are out of stock online, but I have little doubt you’d have trouble finding them in store if the pile I saw at my local TRU is any indication. There’s also a 25% off deal on all LEGO lights, 20% off all Pirates Of The Caribbean sets and a FREE LEGO Ninjago 3D Battle Arena with spinner with any $50 Ninjago purchase.
This year’s Toys R Us Canada Toy Book runs from November 4th – 17th and has so many random LEGO deals, I’m not sure where to start. First up, they’re offering $10 – $20 off of these Star Wars & PotC sets:
- 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave – Save $10
- 8088 ARC-170 Starfighter – Save $10
- 8085 Freeco Speeder – Save $10
- 4193 The London Escape – Save $10
- 4195 Queen Anne’s Revenge – Save $20
There’s 20% off all LEGO electronics including the Star Wars alarm clocks and this R2-D2 USB flash Drive FREE with any LEGO Star Wars purchase over $50.
You can also enjoy 25% off all LEGO Cars sets an all LEGO board games. There’s 20% off all Ninjago and City sets, plus a host of other odd discounts. The cherry on the cake is any LEGO purchase gets you a card for $10 off of your next $50 worth of brick. Spend $75 and you’ll get a free LEGO watch, at $25 each it’s a good deal if you know someone who’d wear it.
You know Toys’R'Us stores are ramping up for the holidays when they start having door buster deals every week. The following deals start today at 3pm and end Saturday 1pm. They list 4195 Queen Anne’s Revenge on sale for $109.99, which is $10 bucks less than regular MSRP (TRU regular price appears to be $139.99). 7498 Police Station is $82.49 compared to MSRP of $99.99. The best deal I think is from Ninjago, 2505 Garmadon’s Dark Fortress is down to $52.49 down from REGULAR MSRP of $69.99. Deals are good both online and in store.
In all the reviews I’ve done, I can be called nothing if not timely. That’s why we’re bringing you the review of the Queen Anne’s Revenge a prompt six months after it came out! I could say that it’s because I was waiting for the DVD release, but that’d be lying. We all know what a stinker the movie was by now, even if you’re like me and still haven’t gotten around to watching it, relying only on Wikipedia entries and the discussions of customers when hiding inside the DVD rack at Walmart.
Let’s not beat around the bush on this review: the Queen Anne’s Revenge (QAR) should be the best of the Pirates of the Caribbean sets, by a pretty big margin, right? Unlike the other sets, it’s a vehicle (of sorts), and who doesn’t like a good pirate ship? QAR is a central piece of the new movie, the ship of the bad guy, and you just can’t help but be awed when you see the movie art or even the box art of the set. You know a few things about Blackbeard right away. First, he liked dark colors, and really likes to decorate with bones. But how does the set hold up when you put it together?
This review will be a bit different than others in the series, since we’ve had two pirate ships in recent years I can compare it too: The Imperial Flagship and Brickbeard’s Bounty. So, impressions of the set are colored by those right away. Let’s not hide it… let’s compare this ship to an average pirates set and one of the greatest sets LEGO has ever made. Should be fair!

There isn’t much to this review so I won’t bother with the more link.
30130 MINI Black Pearl is a Target-exclusive in the US and is only available pre-packaged with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 3D Blu-ray Limited Edition 5-disc set. In the UK, they were given away earlier this year as a Sun newspaper promotion. Free is about the right price for this set. By itself, it’s a terrible representation of the iconic pirate ship. Since I am not a big Pirates fan nor do I have a 3D television, the only reason I bought it was to do this review and hopefully save a few of you readers out there from making a terrible purchase.
What I liked: Nothing. Since technically it’s ‘free’, it’s a neat little bonus to get some extra LEGO bits
What I didn’t: It’s a terrible model. It’s obvious just by looking at the sails how inaccurate the model is. Adding a few more plates and clips and a longer bar for the center could have easily remedied the inadequate number of sails. The MINI model also has an inverted brown cone which I believe is supposed to represent a Crow’s Nest which the Black Pearl doesn’t even have. A 1×1 clip plate could have replaced it and represent the flag. And the bow of the ship? Hideous. I mean, who the heck is designing this thing and what are they basing it off of?
Verdict: Save your $30 bucks and put it towards the System scale 4184 The Black Pearl. Unless you’re a hardcore Pirates fan that has a 3D home theater system and doesn’t mind ugly LEGO sets, you’re better off spending your money on something else.
When the first wave of POTC sets came out in May there was a gaping hole in the collection. While the Queen Anne’s Revenge was a pretty cool ship, where was the Black Pearl, Captain Jack Sparrow’s beloved ship?! Well that gaping hole has finally been filled with the arrival of 4184 The Black Pearl. I took some time last weekend to build the Pearl with my ten year old son Connor. This review is from two perspectives: The jaded, overly critical analysis of a long time LEGO enthusiast, and mine.
The Toys R Us Bricktober event rolls onward with the Retro Knight Minifigure Magnet available with any $20 LEGO purchase and they’ve discounted a few choice sets with at least two worth checking out:
Free glued magnet, a couple of discounted sets and free shipping on orders over $75 not enough for you? My, how jaded you’ve become. How about a free Star Wars Battle pack when you spend a scant $40? So drop your cash and take your pick. Selection may vary in store.
Thanks to ufjason for the heads up!
