Amazon Delays January 2013 Shipments

Sad_Anime_girl_crying_2

Amazon has put all of the January 2013 assortments on pre-order status with a shipping date set for December 31. Even Galaxy Squad and that stuff was on sale days ahead of every other theme. This is speculation on my part but it’s most likely because Toys’R’Us complained about losing sales to Amazon since Amazon doesn’t have a holiday price gouge markup that TRU does. That and it probably violated TRU’s first-to-market contract. Whatever. Hope you ordered when you did. Shop@Home seems to be the only place to get some of the new stuff right now, like TMNT, Galaxy Squad, and Friends at MSRP, but you’ll be paying for express shipping in time for Christmas.

Or you could be insane and walk into a Toys’R’Us store during the last week before the holiday and attempt to get a price match.

Or just wait a few weeks and they’ll be everywhere.

Update: I should clarify that all NEW orders will be delayed until the end of the month. Any orders placed before today should still ship out as normal.

Iron Man Mark VII Armor

GRANOV POSE FLARE

Super Hero fan mmccooey spent the summer building large scale super poseable figures of some of comics’ greatest characters and why not, it was definitely a summer of heroes. He started with the Dark Knight, moved on to the Merc with a Mouth and finished with a Spectacular showing before going into stand-by mode. Before his temporary self imposed exile, he teased at an Avengers themed build for the holiday season. Well Happy Holidays, Iron Man has arrived! This is a great model that’s packed with functionality and play features, so take a look through the gallery and let the work speak for itself. I hope his other Avengers turn out this good. Excelsior!

LEGO Shop@Home Now Selling TMNT

Today is the 19th, also known as on-sale day for TMNT through LEGO Shop@Home. If you missed out on Amazon, you can still order in time for Christmas delivery so long as you choose Express Shipping at checkout. It’s a bit of a premium but isn’t it worth your child’s/nephew’s/niece’s/grandchild’s happiness? You can’t put a price on that now can you?

Star Wars Advent Calendar 2012 – Day 19

Day 19 - Trade Federation Shuttle
Day 19 – Trade Federation Shuttle

This little Neimoidian shuttle is cute and recognizable, but really should have been in last years with Nute Gunray. It’s a nice little tan assortment that makes me wish I had about twenty of these for the parts alone. It doesn’t have the transparent cheese slope cockpit they use for practically every other micro (even foolishly on the Nubian), so this must be an automated version. Too bad they didn’t cap it off with a tan lever as well, I could use more of those.

Star Wars Advent Calendar 2012 – Day 18

Day 18 - Rebel Trooper
Day 18 – Rebel Trooper

I don’t really know where this guy fits in so far, so I guess we’ll be seeing an OT micro tomorrow to go with him. If not, we could certainly have been stuck with worse figs that could’ve been shoe-horned in. Oh wait, he’s probably one of the generic troopers strewn about when Vader boarded the Tantive IV after it was capture by the Star Destroyer! Connection made. End transmission.

Amazon Discounts Some Stuff

Don’t like the new stuff? Still need to catch up? Looking for the old stuff on discount? Well this post is for you as Amazon has put some of the current wave of sets as well as some long-in-the-tooth exclusives on the discount rack. I’m kind of not surprised at the discounts we’re seeing for some of the current sets. With all the new themes and sets coming in, they’ve gotta make room somehow. Today, we’re seeing a few discounts that are worth mentioning, assuming, of course, that you didn’t break the bank/max out the credit cards/incite the wrath of your significant other already.

Life-Size LEGO Bag End

Bag End 3

I can only assume that this massive sculpture was built to promote the release of sets based The Hobbit, but I have no idea where it is (or where it’s going to be) displayed. I certainly hope it shows up at the NY Toy Fair in February though. You can view the original gallery on LEGO’s Facebook page, or on Flickr by clicking the image. Hopefully some better pictures will be forthcoming very soon.
This is what LEGO had to say about it:

It took a team of 12 model shop employees 3,000 hours to build this life size model of the LEGO Bag End set. In addition to containing over 2 million 1×1 bricks this model has working lights in the fireplace and over the bookstand as well as a chimney that really smokes!

Sorry to say, I like this a lot more than the movie itself.

Star Wars Advent Calendar 2012 – Day 17

Day 17 - Flash Speeder
Day 17 – Flash Speeder

Much better. Here’s a model that not only works well in the micro scale, but they even managed to incorporate a nifty little build into it as well. It looks good on its own, pretty much nails the vehicle at this difficult scale and it’s green. I always like a little colour in the predominantly bland Star Wars palette. I have less issue with them focusing on the prequels as I do with them making the wrong vehicular choices. Today is a win in my book and I look forward to whatever fig they’ve got in store for us (if their pattern holds true) tomorrow.

10937 Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout Releases 12/18 for EU

Just got a note from my LEGO representative that 10937 Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout will go on sale for the EU market tomorrow December 18th. Price is £129.99 UK / 159,99 €. For us here in North America, we still have to wait until December 31st.

I don’t mind waiting, really. With so much new stuff coming out, it eases the hurt on the wallet a tad.
