So another year, and mostly the same format: Ace handling Star Wars, Eric looking at Harry Potter, and in a shocking turn of events, Nick not having to deal with a Marvel calendar dedicated to causing physical pain – he’ll be handling City this year because while his kids may be into Minecraft he decidedly is not (and also that thing was impossible to find in his area). As always, there will be some extra special bonuses, a lot of cheeky writing, tons of typos and things we miss that someone will demand we go and hire an editor to fix.
We will not do that.
Ace (Star Wars) – 3 Hit / 7 Misses
Eric (Harry Potter) – 6 Hits / 3 Misses / 1 Harry Potter
Nick (City) – 9 Hits / 1 Miss
Nick (Star Wars) – 1 Hit / 9 Misses
Ace
You cannot tell me this is NOT Autobot Warpath. That’s my closest guess. My next closest guess is that, given the unofficial theme of this dumbass calendar being Bibby Frock’s Droid Workshop, this is some kind of droid. With a laser eye. That may or may not be a robot in disguise. As a Warpath microbuild, it wins. As a Star Wars Advent Calendar item, it stinks.
Eric – Harry Potter
Ladies and gentlemen and others, you are looking at the best build in this calendar. It’s a Chocolate Frog, and every single piece is used perfectly. I love love love the humps used for the frog’s knees. And it only uses 17 pieces! It’s only downhill from here, sorry to say.
Nick – City and Star Wars and Minis
If a cat has ever had you as a pet, you immediately recognized this dead simple and brilliant little hit. I’ve never seen a cat who didn’t see an empty box and immediately go stake a claim and stare at everyone who came close as if they were at the top of a fort, trying to aim some cannons. Our cat, Kitkat, is probably in the living room right now in one of the many boxes that holiday gifts have been showing up in.
B2EMO got done dirty in this calendar. I also hadn’t realized that the best droid that’s come out of the sequel era (sorry BB, but its true) hadn’t gotten any representation in LEGO yet. If astromechs can get half a million variations, Bee deserves one too. I love him, and this thing is not a great representation of him.
I feel kind of attacked my my minis calendar today. The first real letdown, kind of, in not getting anything… but my old-ass eyes can’t read a lot of the print so they gave this to me.
