So another year, and mostly the same format: Ace handling Star Wars, Eric looking at Harry Potter, and in a shocking turn of events, Nick not having to deal with a Marvel calendar dedicated to causing physical pain – he’ll be handling City this year because while his kids may be into Minecraft he decidedly is not (and also that thing was impossible to find in his area). As always, there will be some extra special bonuses, a lot of cheeky writing, tons of typos and things we miss that someone will demand we go and hire an editor to fix.
We will not do that.
Ace (Star Wars) – 3 Hit / 6 Misses
Eric (Harry Potter) – 5 Hits / 3 Misses / 1 Harry Potter
Nick (City) – 8 Hits / 1 Miss
Nick (Star Wars) – 1 Hits / 8 Misses
Ace – Star Wars
I know before I said something to the effect of “I never thought I’d be wishing for a weapons rack” or something to that effect. But here we are with what looks like a tool rack. And at first, when I saw the picture and realized what it was I was like, “Oh hey, there’s that weapons rack I wanted” and was actually okay with it. That is until I saw the little hinge bricks.
Given what we’ve gotten so far in this calendar, and finally a connected build that goes all the way back to Day 2, I think I’m starting to have a bad feeling about this. You know, worse than before.
Eric – Harry Potter
Okay the first three minifigs were pretty A- and B-list Harry Potter characters. But now we’re getting into students who I have to look up. This is Hannah Abbott, who I’m not sure even had a speaking part in the movies. She’s just always around in the background. I get that there aren’t many Hufflepuff characters to choose from. I like the sweater print a lot. The mandrake is really cute, and I’ve always loved that yellow/orange LEGO color.
Nick – City and Whatever Else He Feels Like
Another solid little microbuild/toy… but I’m going to knock this one a little bit for not including two of them in here to race. It feels like the part count was low enough they could have given us a red one to go with this. Still, it’s nice by itself, so will give it a hit and hope we get another one later.
Star Wars continues to aim for mediocrity and come up short. Also, this build is awful. Is there any reason at all that yesterday’s and today’s builds couldn’t have been put together? I mean, other than padding.
This is a weird little thing in my minis calendar. I didn’t actually open the package, but there is something inside it that very well may be chips. It’s cute and all, but a lot less impactful than some of the previous ones we’ve gotten.
