You know, as much as I bash on Episode I (and it certainly deserves it), the one thing that they did very well with it before it was released was get people excited for the movie. There were all kinds of signs that it was going to be terrible, but the trailers, previews, and promotional material for it just got you more and more excited. Of course, once you saw the movie, you were a mixture of disappointing and angry that it tricked us so effectively.
Perhaps we can hope that Rebels is taking the opposite tact here, and the show is going to be the second-coming of wonderful show (I was going to say Firefly, but yeah, not possible) and they’re making it look like it’s a reality show starring Lady GaGa, Justin Beiber, and Benedict Cumberbatch in a submarine trying to find the Loch Ness monster in the Caspian Sea. Which, when I type it out, sounds way better than what Rebels has shown us thus far, because you know eventually Cumberbatch would launch Beiber out a torpedo tube.
To be fair, these aren’t as bad as some of the other previews, but I think that’s a lot more to do with their length than anything else.
