    Finders Keepers!

Iain “Ochre Jelly” Heath built these figures because he felt (along with many others) that the One Ring from the official LEGO sets was ridiculously out-of-scale with the mini-figs. Honestly, I don’t care what his reasons were, I’m just really glad that he built these fantastic figs and that I’ve already purchased tickets for my favourite seats at the Friday premier here.

Featuring tons of production value, it is just as good if not better than their previous videos. Check out Brotherhood Workshop’s YouTube channel for more of their hilarious LEGO Lord of the Rings videos.

Thanks to ninnymuggins for the heads up.

    Review: 9470 Shelob Attacks

These last couple reviews for 2012 have been sitting on my to-do list for far too long, so I’m going to keep this one brief (Ha!) which should be no problem for what is the second smallest set in the first (and hopefully not last) wave of the LOTR theme. Admittedly, I’m no expert on the Rings trilogy and still haven’t been able to bring myself to crack the books even though I quite enjoyed the films in both theatrical and extended editions. Everytime those books find themselves at the top my reading queue, I find something else of interest and reshuffle until they’re back on the bottom. I’ve nothing against Tolkien, It’s just that I already have a good handle on what happens, have heard a great deal about what was not in the films (my wife is a huge fan) and to be honest fantasy in general is not really my thing. Oh, one more thing I’m not a big fan of… spiders.

The Hobbit Sets Trickle Into Amazon

Amazon has listed a few of The Hobbit sets on their site. A lower threshold for free shipping and no tax to most states might make this a better deal than Shop@Home but you do get VIP points with LEGO. Oddly enough, 79000 Riddles for The Ring is priced two dollars more than MSRP at $11.99. Shop@Home has this set for $9.99, so buyer beware. There’s a list below of what’s available. I’ll update this post throughout the day as more sets become searchable.

  • First Hobbit Polybag Available @ TRU

First Hobbit Polybag Available @ TRU

Brickset and TheBrickLife have reported the first Hobbit related polybag has surfaced at TRU in the US and it looks pretty sweet. I love me some polybags and I’m more of a parts guy so this caught my attention for the mushroom, green hood and wine glass alone, though the whole set looks good overall compared to many polys recently. Feel free to sound off if you see 30212 Mirkwood Elf Guard in store and I’ll cross my fingers for their arrival in Canada.

  • Xbox Lord of The Rings Game Contains Demo Disc

Xbox Lord of The Rings Game Contains Demo Disc

Update: It has been confirmed by IGN that even though the disc is labeled as a demo, it does contain a fully playable copy of the game. The demo disc is a result of a labeling error. Also, WB is issuing a recall for those consumers that wish to get a non-error disc. You may contact customer service by email at support@wbgames.com or phone at 410-568-3680.

GameInformer is reporting that some shipments of the Xbox 360 version of the LEGO Lord of the Rings game contains a demo disc instead of the actual game disc. Some Gamestop locations are opening up the jewel cases to make sure customers get the correct product. If you’re planning on picking up the game for the Xbox, be sure to open it at the store so you’re not surprised in a bad way when you get home.
