    DC Fandome Supergirl Minifig Gallery

Another winner shared some close up pictures of the DC FanDome Supergirl minifig complete with in and out of package shots. It’s kind of odd to see it referred to as a “mini-figurine”. I always associated the word “figurine” as a figure that is non-poseable. And this being a LEGO promotion, you’d think someone in copyediting would have raised a hand. Anyway, enjoy the gallery. Big thanks to Greg for sending them in!

  • DC Fandome Supergirl Minifigs Are Being Mailed Out

DC Fandome Supergirl Minifigs Are Being Mailed Out

Brewster from our discord channel shared some pics of his recent mail haul which includes a Supergirl minifig from the DC Fandome giveaway. Not only did he win one, he won two of them! That just means if you entered multiple times, and who didn’t, you may be receiving more than one. It also means that there was no filtering done to prevent winners from getting more than one. Hopefully, the majority of the people who entered will get at least one.

Brewster said that all of the figures are being mailed out from a warehouse in Nevada. I imagine the figures will be hitting mailboxes in the next couple of days as the mail radiates out from there depending on your local USPS service.

Congrats to Brewster and everyone else lucky enough to win (at least) one!

Thanks to Brewster for letting me use his pics. Visit his YouTube channel.

  • LEGO Reveals UCS 1989 Batwing

    LEGO Reveals UCS 1989 Batwing

Last weekend, LEGO revealed the Keaton-era UCS Batwing, 76161 1989 Batwing. Priced at $199.99 with 2,363 pieces, I expect the same fidelity and attention to detail as the Keaton Batmobile, even right down to the minifigs.

You get another Keaton Batman minifig, one of Joker’s goons dressed like a cop from parade during the Batwing sequence, and Joker in his mime costume he wore when he attacked City Hall, which is from a completely different part of the film. I guess they ran out of ideas.

It comes with a special brick so you can hang it on the wall which is obviously the superior way to display the model. Way better than this:

Even if you don’t want to hang it on the wall, it would have been great if the stand you build would allow you to orient the Batwing vertically.

Early VIP access to the Batwing begins on October 21st, with general public access on November 1.

    76161 1989 Batwing Press Release

Comic devotees and LEGO Brick fans are in for a treat, as The LEGO Group launches its latest Batman-themed set – available from 21st October from LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

BILLUND, September 19, 2020: It may not soar to Gotham city, but the LEGO Group’s latest release with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and DC, the LEGO® DC BATMAN™ 1989 Batwing, is sure to transport fans to their most memorable DC Super Hero moments this Batman Day. Fans of Batman and avid builders are in for some serious fun as they embark on their journey to construct the ultimate Super Hero vehicle in the LEGO® DC BATMAN™ collection.

The new LEGO® 1989 Batwing draws upon the design seen in Tim Burton’s iconic 1989 BATMAN™ film, using the smooth lines and features from the original model to bring an impressive gothic elegance to any LEGO collection. DC and LEGO fans alike can indulge in their passion for the Caped Crusader as they explore all the delightful features of this new set, including a full interior, removable canopy and posable aerodynamic flaps. To add to the excitement, the construction kit is also dotted with Easter eggs to surprise builders, such as a screen featuring The Joker’s gas balloons and a ‘Bat Engine’ label on the vehicle’s engine – helping to truly transport builders back to 1989 and into the BATMAN universe.

Once completed, the 2,363-piece set is a real showstopper, measuring over 4” (11cm) high, 20” (52cm) long and 22” (58cm) wide. The construction set also features a special brick which allows builders to mount and display their model on the wall for added impact, making the LEGO® DC BATMAN™ 1989 set a wonderful addition to a Batman lover’s LEGO collection, joining the previously released LEGO DC BATMAN™ 1989 Batmobile™ to make a dark and dramatic display in any home.

Speaking about the details of the new set, LEGO Creative lead Jesper C. Nielsen said: The emblematic set truly takes fans on a journey, as they immerse themselves into Gotham city and get hands-on with the set, using Batman, The Joker™ and Boombox goon minifigures to relive their favourite moments from the film. Fans can even create the infamous scene when The Joker barges in on the Dark Knight and utters his classic words “have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?”.

The new LEGO® 1989 Batwing construction set is the latest example of how the LEGO Group aims to inspire builders of all ages to build, rebuild and get excited by the process of creation. A complex and rewarding build, the LEGO 1989 Batwing construction set allows builders to relax as they escape from the real world and enter the Batman universe. Designed for those aged 18+, the new set will also feature the new stylish packaging designed to reflect the sophisticated nature of the creative process.

All new products in the LEGO Group’s ranges that appeal to adults will now feature the sleek, minimalistic new design across related packaging, building instructions, exclusive content and in-store and online store design.

LEGO® 1989 Batwing will be available for LEGO VIP members from 21st October and for remaining LEGO fans from 1st November, directly via LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

  • New Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

    New Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

DC Fandome held a brief 25-minute virtual panel with Patti Jenkins, Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig and other stars from the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 film earlier today. As part of the panel a new trailer was shown giving fans a better glimpse of Wonder Woman’s Kingdom Come gold armor outfit and our first really good look at Cheetah in action.

Wonder Woman 1984’s release date was originally scheduled for June 5, 2020, but due to the global pandemic, it was pushed back to October. The trailer now only says “only in theaters” with no date attached. Here’s hoping they’ll go with a virtual release plan like Mulan, Trolls World Tour, The Invisible Man etc. ‘Cause this pandemic ain’t gonna let up soon.

  • DC FanDome Reveals New Comic Con Style Wonder Woman Set

DC FanDome Reveals New Comic Con Style Wonder Woman Set

As part of the DC FanDome reveal extravaganza going on today, they revealed a new Wonder Woman set promoting the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984 movie. This set is now live and can be purchased LEGO.com and Walmart.com. Set is $39.99 and has purchase limits of 3 and 2 respectively. These are pre-orders with an expected ship date of October 1.

77906 Wonder Woman looks like a Comic Con exclusive, smells like a Comic Con exclusive, it probably was intended to be a Comic Con exclusive, except when I asked my PR contact, they never heard of it nor of the Supergirl minifig either.

The cover and theme of the set pays homage to Wonder Woman #6, the very first appearance of Cheetah:

If you click through any of the links in this post and make a purchase at LEGO and/or Walmart, FBTB may get a small commission. We thank you for your support.

Except for this one thing, and that one thing is an exclusive Supergirl minifigure. The above image was posted to the dclifestyle Instagram account:

Nintendo Discounting A Bunch of LEGO Games

Sometimes when cross platform games go on sale, I’ve noticed that the same title on the Nintnedo Switch doesn’t really get the same deal. But right now, it’s the Switch’s time to shine because a bunch of LEGO games are on sale digitally. You can buy these direct from the site or through the Switch’s eShop. Take a look:

No affiliate links because I don’t think they have an affiliate program for the eShop. These are just great deals to keep your kids busy this summer while under lockdown.

  • LEGO Is Raffling Away A Rare 2012 SDCC Shazam! Minifig And You Have To Spend VIP Points To Enter

LEGO Is Raffling Away A Rare 2012 SDCC Shazam! Minifig And You Have To Spend VIP Points To Enter

I’ve written before how LEGO Shop@Home’s revamped VIP Programs sucks. Well, they’ve taken it to a new low. They are offering VIP members a chance to win a 2012 San Diego Comic Con exclusive Shazam! minifig. By the picture above, it looks like Shazam! comes in a nice acrylic case and it also looks like it’s been graded by some self-important collectibles authority. You can enter up to 15 times and each entry will cost 50 VIP points. That would mean 750 points to maximize your chances. Just to give you a better picture of how much 750 points is, buying a 20th Anniversary Slave I set, $119.99 MSRP, will net you 780 points. 750 points will also get you a $5 off voucher to use at LEGO Shop@Home or in-store (provided you redeem and get the code prior to your online purchase or visit to the store) with some points left over ($5 is 650 points).

So on one hand, you could see it as 15 free entries to the raffle with a purchase of the Slave I set. On another hand, it’s $5 in raffle tickets. But on another hand (yes I live in a world where everyone has three hands), it feels sleazy and dirty. Not something I normally equate with such a family-friendly conscious company as The LEGO Group. They’ve given away their SDCC exclusives before via twitter retweets. So to actually charge something now, even something as abstract as points, it just feels off somehow.

No doubt it’s a nice opportunity to get an extremely rare collectible. I recognize what LEGO is trying to do with their collectibles and exclusives; and also trying to bring some exclusive content to their VIP program. But this Shazam! raffle just doesn’t elevate either in my mind.

If you’re interested, you have until Monday March 2nd to claim your entries.
