TRU Event

Just a quick reminder that at Toys’R’Us stores are hosting a LEGO DC Super Heroes building event today, Saturday, from 12noon – 2pm. You get to build the pilot-less mech you see there. It’s unknown if a Joker minifig will also be given away to complete the look, but you could always bring your own Joker for giggles. Just don’t lose it. This event is free but limited to supplies on hand. I would advise getting there earlier rather than later. Hit up the store locator to find a location near you.

That free polybag offer we posted last time still seems to be valid. If you spend $20 or more on DC Super Heroes, you’ll get Robin and the Redbird Cycle, Iron Man Drone Attack something or other if you opt Marvel Super Heroes. Either way you’re screwed since you’ll be paying TRU tax. They’ll do a price match against their own website if the prices seem out of whack or if you bring in a printed ad from a competitor. But you know what is super annoying? The fact that you have to spend $20 or more, not $19, or $19.99 which is the actual MSRP that other stores will charge. You don’t have that extra penny in the sale? No polybag for you! Anyways, I digress…

Looking at the current selection, I think you’re best bet to get the Robin polybag is to either get two copies of 76000 Artic Batman vs. Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice since it is actually a dollar less than MSRP at $18.99. OR, get 76001 The Bat vs. Bane: Tumbler Chase, since it is only $7.00 above MSRP at $46.99. You can think of the $7 bucks extra as the cost of the polybag. All the other sets have an outrageous markup, and I mean outrageous.

I’m too tired to get into what Marvel sets you could get but you’ll probably have better luck finding a reasonably priced set since they offer a few more at the $20 MSRP range. Besides, it’s an older polybag that was available previously through LEGO Shop@Home and Brand Retail.

There’s a couple of things you can try. You could try and get them to price match LEGO Shop@Home prices. Or, if you haven’t bought the LEGO Batman 2 game yet, see if the offer is valid on video games or accessories. If so, see if you can pick up a LEGO Batman video game or LEGO Batman DS accessory pack to pad your total. Or, and this is outrageous, see if they’ll just let you buy the darn thing. That’s what I’m going to try. We’ll see if I’m successful. Good luck to you!
