Adorable Dark Knight may be adorable, but don’t let his looks fool you! rongYIREN built this bulky bit of a Batman like a brick house.

When Flickr group LUGNuts announced its Build Challenge 51 – Batmobile: 2025, I knew we were in for a treat. As is usual the big guns are always late to the party, but they rarely disappoint. Nathan Proudlove recently contributed this pretty cool Batmobile. Be sure to check out Nathan’s photostream for more pics, including the lighting features.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes

The Official Announcement for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes has finally arrived and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one. Sounds like the standard LEGO game with a little bit of Batman: Brave and the Bold (the last kid friendly Batman game released) thrown in to freshen it up. The addition of other DC heroes is a great way to add some new play features even if some folks will be disappointed that these supers didn’t get their own game, yet. Anyone else waiting for the announcement of a LEGO: Lord of the Rings game?

    Batwing

Tigmon74 has built a very agressive looking Batwing to start off 2012 and certainly wasted no time utilizing the Batman minifig he got for Christmas. The wing itself is nifty with a great use of the smooth technic panels, but for me the rocky platform and beefed up Batcomputer complete the scene and set the mood perfectly.

  • Super Heroes Unite! November Winners Announced

The final winners of LEGO’s Super Heroes Unite! contest have been revealed! And they’re mostly videos, which is a little one-sided if you ask me, especially considering some of the phenomenal entries that weren’t moving pictures. Anyway, big congrats to November’s 1st place winners, Kris Theorin (above) and Paul Hollingsworth (below), who will be getting their hands on the entire DC Universe line-up of LEGO Super Heroes and a maquette. Hit the link to check out all other winners including the grand prize winner, Dan Glasure, who also happened to be one of October’s 1st place winners. I guess that guy’s going to be loaded up on LEGO Super Heroes sets. Also, does anyone think they’ll do another contest for this summer’s Marvel sets?

  • LEGO Art Deco Batman Poster

    Batman Art-Deco Poster

The LEGO Super Heroes Unite! contest may be closed to new entries, but davekaleta is still pounding away at the DC Comics MOC’s. His latest is a fantastic LEGO recreation of this poster and I for one would hang it on my wall in a heartbeat. LEGO as art is a cool concept, but when you throw an extra helping of pop culture into the mix it really takes it to the next level.

    Keep them coming folks!

  • Super Heroes Unite! October Winners Announced

The entry period for LEGO’s Super Heroes Unite! Contest may be over, but the excitement continues as the latest round of winners are announced! Coming in first place for October is Dan Glasure with the stop-motion video “It’s Just Your Imagination” and artwork by Stanley Iu, “How to Make LEGO Better.” Congratulations to both who get to take home a lovely (I’m sure, since I haven’t actually seen it) porcelain maquette, not to mention the entire 2012 DC Collection of LEGO Super Heroes sets!

Don’t forget to check out the rest of October’s winners here and stay tuned next month for the exciting conclusion as the final round of winners–including the grand prize winner–are announced.

  • Batman Returns!

Though recently it feels that as a license, he never really left. If you’re as big a fan of the original 1989 Tim Burton Batman film as I am then you no doubt were surprised that the sequel was as good as it was. Trading in Jack Nicholson’s Joker for the Penguin played by Danny Devito doesn’t sound like a sure thing, but it was and Burton’s mix of gritty noir and campy throwback worked incredibly well. Every bit of that feeling is captured here in this 32 x 32 vignette by LegoManiac, alhtough a passing glance may make it easy to dismiss. The cramped quarters make it difficult to see all the details without taking a closer look, which you can do if you visit the gallery on his blog.

  • Heroes & Villains Run Rampant @ Eurobricks

    Enter the Joker

Superheroes are all the rage right now and in addition to our Wheels Of Justice Contest Eurobricks is running their first LEGO Batman Contest which highlights vignettes over vehicles in two seperate catagories, 32 x 32 studs and the deceptively more difficult 8 x 8 stud size. The above scene from Si-MOCs depicts one (of many) possible origins for the Joker based on DC’s animated film Batman: Under The Red Hood. It incorporates some great techniques and details without being too busy as many larger vigs tend to do.

    Cat Burglar

In the smaller scale darkblne uses clean lines and smooth surfaces while maintaining enough details to keep it interesting and really capture the character as well as mood of the scene. Check out the other shots to see the background he built outside the window and a cheeky shot of the cat getting the cream.

  • How Do I Look, Mister J?

    Harley Quinn

LEGO’s Super Heroes Unite! Contest has inspired Flickr user retinence to create a Bionic Harley Quinn. Harley has always been a favourite of mine for not only the obvious reasons, but because she was such a perfect sidekick for the clown prince of crime on Batman: The Animated Series that she was adopted into the comics. This rendition captures her attitude perfectly and takes some great features from multiple looks Harley has had.
