Hallmark Reveals This Year’s LEGO Star Wars Ornament: Yoda

Yoda Keepsake Ornament

Anyone else sick of what is turning out to be the Year of the Yoda? Good, ’cause neither am I! Hallmark has announced their newest entry into their line of LEGO Star Wars Christmas Tree ornaments and it really should come to no surprise to anybody that it is famed Jedi Master Yoda. He is offered in a rather static pose and looks more like a minifigure than a statue. Seems lazy to me, and I’m not talking about what his eyes are doing there. Still, this is one line we can all claim to be successful completionists on up until they wise up and start offering convention exclusive ornaments. Then we’re screwed. Anyways, he’ll go on sale later this year at the low, low price of $14.95. Hallmark’s previous LEGO Star Wars ornaments were Darth Vader and Stormtrooper.

Thanks to banthafodder for the heads up.

LEGO Star Wars Storms The Nuremberg Airport

Yoda @ the Nuremberg Airport (Toy Fair 2012)

After the great coverage of both the London and New York Toy Fair’s by our intrepid reporters Pete, Don and Ace it was easy to forget about the one held in Germany. Francesco “Frankie” Fondi (awesomely alliterated alias award) sent a heads up about LEGO’s occupation of the Nuremberg airport baggage area, which was overwhelmed with LEGO Star Wars statues. You can check out the rest of the shots at his site. I’d guess these are statues that may pop up in LEGO stores quite often, but I’ve never seen one in person and the thought of them invading an airport just seems like an odd publicity stunt. Neat nontheless.

It’s sad because they used to be so close…

“Size Matters Not.”

Size matters not...

Just keep telling yourself that Yoda.

SPARKART! has found a creepy/hilarious use for the printed Cars faces and refers to this unholy mash-up a “Cars Tuned” creation. Nice.

For the record I don’t care what Johnson thought, puns are not the lowest form of humour. Prop comedy is.

Who Da Man? Yoda Man!

Alright, I’m never saying that again.

For me at least, it seems everything is coming up Yoda lately. Kevin Ryhal has built this cute little guy in his signature “Moodland” style and if you lay him on his back he spins just like his illegitimate offspring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I wouldn’t mind seeing more little figures built like this. The spin-fighting angle could give Ninjago a run for it’s money.

South Coast Plaza Grand Opening Event

Yoda Master Builder Event

I meant to post this earlier this week but work has been crajee lately, so I apologize for the short reminder. The Master Builder event lasts through Sunday with the final bricks aimed to be placed at 5:00pm on Sunday.

But wait, there’s more! Visit the store during the event and enter a raffle to win a $50 gift certificate!

Build Buzz At Northbrook, Yoda At Costa Mesa

The Northbrook, IL LEGO Store is having a grand re-opening this weekend February 18 through February 20. The Northbrook store is re-opening to a new location in Northbrook Court. As part of the celebration, there will be a Master Builder Event where participants can help build an 8-ft. tall Buzz Lightyear.

Check out LEGO.com for more information or call the Northbrook store directly at (847) 291-9520.

As if southern California didn’t have enough LEGO Stores (which we don’t honestly, I mean what does it take to get a store in Los Angeles, like on the west side, or, even better, like in the south bay area?), LEGO is opening up a store in Costa Mesa and will be having their Grand Opening event on March 11 through March 13. As part of the celebration, there will be a Master Builder Event to help build a Yoda model. It’s bit far on the calendar but seeing as to how I’ll probably be attending that event, I’ll post a reminder about it the closer we get to the day.

More Cool Alarm Clocks: Yoda, Anakin

Tim Steff from our forums found some more cool alarm clocks at his local Walmart: a Clone Wars era Yoda and Anakin Skywalker. The Stormtrooper’s still the best, though.

Yoda Duplo Brick Giveaway Winner Announced

Out of 52 entries, only one could claim the prize, and that someone is:

  • Jordan Gott of Lothian, MD

Congratulations! Your Yoda brick will be on its way!

Either the news scrolls down too fast and people don’t bother reading back a page or two, or readers are no longer interested in free stuff as the total number of submissions for the last two giveaways has been pretty low. Also, if you do enter the giveaways, make sure you are familiar with the giveaway rules as I had to toss a fair number of entries that did not include the mailing address.

Duplo Yoda Brick Giveaway

Every once in a blue moon, LEGO hosts a building event at their brand retail locations where visitors to the store can participate in building an 8-foot tall replica of a minifig, such as Yoda, R2-D2, or a Pirate figure. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can walk away with a commemorative Duplo brick, such as this one:
