Review: 7915 Imperial V-wing Starfighter

Ah, the V-wing. Two seconds of screen time is more than enough to warrant a set, and then apparently a redesign with a different color scheme a few years later…

Review: 7676 Republic Attack Gunship

7676 Republic Attack Gunship

At long last, 7676 Republic Attack Gunship, we meet on the FBTB review battlefield. Nearly two years ago you came into my life, and I teased and flirted with this review. But no more! A gauntlet was thrown down by my benevolent taskmaster, and I must finally (finally!) step up. Are you awesome, or are you not awesome?

Review: 7913 Clone Trooper Battle Pack

cbp1

I’ve never been a big fan of the Clone Wars style figures, so it’s hard to believe this is my favorite battle pack so far. Apart from one real gripe (and my typical hatred of the unbearably ugly clone face) this almost qualifies as “perfect”.

Review: 8091 Republic Swamp Speeder

ss06
“The Infantry Support Platform (ISP), also known as the swamp speeder, was a repulsorlift speeder first deployed by the Grand Army of the Republic for swamp combat during the late Clone Wars.” Thanks Wookipedia, without you I was going to assume this set was something a drunken set designer thought up to fill out the Star Wars lineup.

Review: 8958 Granite Grinder

When I first saw the Granite Grindericon on the shelf at Target, I thought “Dawww… how cute!” And I continued along my merry way, not giving it a second thought as I drooled over meatier offerings like the 8960 Thunder Driller and the 8961 Crystal Sweeper.

The next time I saw it was in the hands of a fellow member of the Los Angeles LUG, and I got to see it in action. When I saw what this puppy could do, I had to have one.

So does the set rock or is it fool’s gold?

Review: 7678 Droid Gunship

Discuss on the forum

When I first heard there was going to be a Separatist gunship in Episode 3 during the battle of Kashyyyk, I remember thinking “Ha! Droid gunship? No way that could take on a Republic gunship!” I didn’t think the Separatists could come up with anything that could top the Republic Attack Gunship for sheer firepower and awesome. Then I saw the movie, *briefly* glimpsed the droid gunship in it, and thought nothing more of it. Its role was so small, and we didn’t get to see the inner workings of it like we did the RAG. Simply put, I didn’t know *what* to think of it anymore. “Meh” would be a fitting description.

Putting this set together, I thought back to those first impressions. Were they right?
