Thanks for the quick reply Ryan. I had a question about a part that was listed in the BL inventory (an extra item), the white plume...were there any of those, because I was kinda hoping to pick those up.
I included them with this guy. There were no extras.
Also FYI, I included the scabbards w/ katanas with all the Dastan minifigs. I figured if Bricklink was showing Dastan as complete with the scabbard, then the people getting Dastan should probably have the katanas that fit the scabbards.
I think I am putting way too much effort into deciding my draft order... If I were doing this in person I probably wouldn't even look at the list before hand and just snatch whatever suited my fancy whenever my turn came around.
Since we are doing this online in chat and I don't want to be the guy holding it up I am going over the list like my life depends on it, trying to justify each number I put next to a part. Of course it doesn't help that I'm incredibly bored at work.
My list is now all ordered out and I'm ready for the draft! I'm just hoping to get a good spot in the order (my top choice would be number 4).
Like MisterFubar, I don't usually prepare that much either for drafts, but since it's going to be online and I too don't want to be "that guy holding up the process", I've taken most of my lunch hour to sort all of the lots in order that I want them.
I just hope I won't have any problem crossing out the lots the other participants choose.
So far I've only ranked my first 60 choices out of a total of 140, and I've already spent my lunch break.
There are a lot of items I'm not interested in so its going to be tough to rank the bottom half of the list for me. Maybe the order doesn't so much matter. But once lots get taken, the dynamics can change quickly of course.
Even if we don't get a video chat running tonight, I will take pictures of the table full of parts every so often to refresh everyone's mental image of the situation.
The choices of the other participants will surely influence my list. I have a few lots here and there that will probably move up or down in my priorities depending on what I can put my hands on in the first few rounds.
The purpose of the ranked inventory was to help you make your decisions faster tonight, and to give you something to cross off after every item is chosen.
Also, I don't get any picks, I'm not in the draft :P
Where does one get a sorting mat like that? My wife would love one.
I was eyeing that too. I suspect they are a retired item that used to sell at S@H. (They look familar, like I've seen them either online before or in old catalogs of years past).
I got mine at a Lego store in the Seattle area, in probably 2007. I recently spotted them again at Legoland, but I didn't get a chance to check the price yet.
Things to consider doing differently next time: -ask for help with spreadsheet (images on inventory) -number the lots on the spreadsheet for easier identification -put split lots on multiple lines -no proxy participants? -no double draft (debatable) -hold the draft on a weekend? 9/10 participants is awesome, but it was not easy for everyone.
