Update: The official release date is February 8, 2019.

The LEGO Movie 2 official trailer is out today and based on the first viewing there are a couple of things that are immediately obvious which I’ll spout off here.

Yeah, there is no doubt in my mind that the mystery figure featured prominently in yesterday’s poster reveal is, in fact, a minidoll. The minidoll’s secret identity remains a secret, though, as she never takes off her helmet.

Also, Unikitty looking Max Max-ed out doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. It seems all of Bricksburg has been thrown into a post-apocalyptic setting. Could this be Finn’s dark age? Also, Unikitty is HUGE. Her head looks about six studs wide, up from three.

Lucy and Emmet are a thing now, living together as evidenced by the E <heart> L 4-EVA monogrammed pillow on their double-decker couch.

The turn signal in the truck is on the wrong side.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will be out in theaters in February 2019.

  1. in countries where you drive on the left, the turn signals can appear on the right side of the steering column. Maybe this is in tribute to the Mad Max feel of the film but more likely that you wouldn’t be able to see him turn on the blinker if it was on the right side of the column and lose the comedic effect.

Go sewer babies! I have a feeling they could kick some serious a**.

  2. There’s a regular size Unikitty too oohing & aahing so my guess is that her larger form is an attack mode like her Angry kitty in the first movie. To me it looked like the turn signal is mounted on the dashboard above where the stickshift would be on a manual transmission, but the car looks like a cobbled together Mad Max vibe. I guess they could put it wherever they want it.
