Poll Time! Week 22’s Set of the Week

I may or may not have purposefully picked all Star Wars minis for last week’s reviews. And it may or may not have been because Star Wars Celebration was on my mind. I didn’t go but it sounds like I wasn’t missing much. No FOMO here. Anyways, on to the poll but before that, let’s take care of some housekeeping.

    Last Week’s Winner

And the trophy fig goes to…

30428 Green Ninja Mech Dragon takes top honors for last week’s poll.

Polybag Set of the Week: Week 22

Pick your favorite set of the week for May 23nd through May 27th.

    The poll has closed!

Remember, You Can Win Every Polybag I Review

I’ll be raffling every polybag I review this year in one big lot, all 260 sets (with the possibility of more). Each set will be individually bagged in a ziploc baggie complete with extra pieces, instructions, and the polybag wrapper it came in. The cost of a raffle ticket is just $1 USD and you can enter as many times as you want. Send a PayPal payment to paypal@fbtb.net for $1 USD for every ticket you want to purchase. DO NOT send one payment for multiple entries i.e. do not send one $5 USD payment for five tickets; five $1 USD payments must be made instead. Raffle is open to everyone in the world except where raffles are illegal. Be sure to put “POLYBAG RAFFLE” in the notes section of the payment in order to be entered successfully. Winner will be drawn sometime early January 2023 and contacted at the PayPal email address the payment was sent from to arrange for delivery. For a running list of all the sets that you can win, check this Google spreadsheet.

  • A Year of Polybags 107/260: 30059 MTT Review

A Year of Polybags 107/260: 30059 MTT Review

Another Clone Wars-deco vehicle, another review where I try and sound like I know what I’m talking about. Still haven’t watched the cartoon, and to be quite honest, I will probably never watch it. But an MTT is an MTT, and I am somewhat familiar with the vehicle from the ol’ PT days.

You can tell it’s a CW version because of the blue. You can also tell it’s an MTT by most of the stand-out characteristics.

The hatch in the front which does lift up as if to deploy a ton of Battle Droids.

The binoculars-turned-laser guns on the nose. I am really not a fan of the binoculars used for anything else other than binoculars. It’s a neat part usage at a small scale, but the clutch power is practically non-existent and you can’t really mount them at any angle other than a right angle to the plate it’s attached to because the lip of the larger end prevents a solid connection. Had they used 1×1 round plates here instead of square plates it would have been a lot better.

There are some boat tiles underneath the MTT to simulate the hover effect.

And finally, there’s the overall MTT-like shape makes it look like an MTT. Yeah I’m reaching here but it does look like, smell like, and sound like a duck an MTT. Other than the binoculars that I am beginning to really loathe more and more, it’s pretty spot on for such a small model.

Does It Suck or Does It Rock?

    This set rocks! ‘Nuff said.

    Sponsorship

There’s no sponsor this week, and with sponsorships lasting a whole week, you can get plenty of exposure for mere pennies. Pennies I say! Want to sponsor a review? Send me a message to admin@fbtb.net or hit me up on discord of the polybag set you have that you want me to review. If selected, in exchange for the set you’ll get a mention right here in the review post and a link to your website or social media account or just about anything else.. Nearly free advertising, so what’s stopping you?

  • Polybag Set 30241 Mandalorian Fighter

    30241 Mandalorian Fighter

One of the new Star Wars polybags for 2013 has been spotted in the wild. Canadian reader CloneEmperor sent along the above and below images showing the polybag in 2013 branding. The set was found at a Toys’R’Us store in Canada and rang up for $4.99 CAD. No word yet on US availability, but the last time a polybag set was spotted in Canada first was 30059 MTT which later found its way to US Walmart stores just before the holidays. We’ll post any developments as they arise.

And it comes with this awesome new(-to-me) part!

Because I know you were looking for a reason to walk through the doors of your local Walmart during this, the craziest of shopping seasons and here it is. Last night nyjpapi popped into the forum to give a heads up. Apparently these were not located in the LEGO isle, but a large Christmas polybag display (that concept is foreign to me and thus gives me goosebumps) at the front of the store containing bags from multiple themes. YMMY, but good luck and good hunting!

30059 MTT Shows Up in Canada

Toys N Bricks is reporting that 30059 MTT is now available from Toys’R’Us stores in Canada. The set was previously thought to be exclusive to the Japan market and thus, the limited supply on Bricklink commanded high price tags. Toys’R’Us Canada is selling 30059 MTT as well as 8028 TIE Fighter and 30056 Star Destroyer for a mere $4.99. No word yet on US availability but we will report any developments once we get more information.

    30059 MTT

Huw over at Brickset snapped some pics of the newest polybag set 30059 MTT. As of now, it’s only available in Japan but hopefully they will make their way to other parts of the world. For us in the US, I’m going to take a wild guess and say it’ll either show up at Target or Toys’R’Us stores. But like other polybag sets to cross international waters, it may be months before we see it again. Still, if you’re itching to buy, check out Bricklink and you too can pay an arm and a leg for it.

Thanks to ninnymuggins for the tip.
