Warner Bros. Announces LEGO: Marvel’s Avengers, Confirms Jurassic World

Today Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group announced their 2015 slate of LEGO® videogames, including LEGO Jurassic World™, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, plus new handheld and mobile titles. I for one am tired of the Ninjago games going straight to the DS. It’s time for a Ninjago console game! But that’s not what we’re here, is it?

We already knew that Jurassic World was getting a game, but the confirmation that you’ll be able to play through all four films has finally piqued my interest. It was a strong probability after Indiana Jones and like, but I’m glad to find out for sure because I’d love to play through the first film (and one scene from the second).

I was surprised to see LEGO: Marvel’s Avengers as an upcoming game because at first it felt like a downgrade from the character filled fun of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes game. Then I read that you’ll get to play through the first Avengers film, Age of Ultron AND more. I sinceriously hope the more is the ability to play through some levels from each members stand alone movies leading up to the first film… except Iron Man 2. Screw that.

Jurassic LEGO game will be out in June across most systems and Avengers is due for the fall. I’m looking forward to both and need to finish my clean up on LEGO Batman 3 quickly so I can play through the first Marvel game again in the summer.

Also for the record, I hope the exclusive figure at Gamestop for Jurassic World will be Dr. Grant. As for the Avengers exclusive…

    Coulson. Make it happen LEGO.

I am trying to not let my excitement for this movie build up to prevent any disappointment but gorram if the above trailer for Jurassic World doesn’t get my blood pumping. Realizing that the first Jurassic Park movie came out over 20 years ago makes me feel so old. Despite its age though, that movie is still a solid piece of work with some incredible effects.

Jurassic World will be released in theaters on June 12, 2015. The LEGO sets will be showing up on shelves sometime before that.

Chris Pratt Spills The Beans on LEGO Jurassic World

Chris Pratt, the voice of Emmet in The LEGO Movie and starring as Peter Quill in the Guardians of the Galaxy, will soon have a third movie under his belt with a LEGO tie in. According to this article posted on JurassicWorld.org, Chris was recently on an episode of the Empire Podcast where he was recorded saying the following:

three (…) I’ve just seen and approved the look for my character Owen from the Jurassic Park, er the Jurassic Park LEGO.

Could Chris have just generalized his likeness to a minifigure and threw out the term LEGO instead of Kre-o? It’s quite possible but then again, with him being involved with the LEGO Movie, I’d like to think he wouldn’t make that kind of mistake of confusing the two brands. The fine folks over at Brickfanatics say that Kre-o currently owns the Jurassic Park but state that the license expires at the end of the year, though they do not state their source on that fact. If the license does expire at the end of the year, it would pave the way for LEGO to launch their line up in support of the movie.

Other things to consider is that one of LEGO’s earliest licenses after Star Wars was a short run of sets based on Jurassic Park III tied in with Studios theme, so it’s not like it hasn’t been done before. Also, LEGO does seem to enjoy dinosaurs as they are apt to release a dino-based theme every few years. Jurassic World is set to be released in theaters on June 12, 2015.
