I simultaneously applaud and curse Okay Yaramanoglu (Oky – Space Ranger) for the above MOC. Anyone watching the cartoon will instantly recognize the above recreation of one of the opening shots from the cartoon’s intro, and for that I applaud him. But I also curse him for reminding that we’ll never get official versions of the turtles like this. This is how the turtles should have been made. Or at least have a set or two with their eyes like this. An exclusive maybe? Is that asking for too much? This is also one step closer to how I prefer my turtles. Sigh.

New week, new episode of TMNT! If the swarms of rats from the episode “I, Monster” didn’t give you the heebee jeebees, then this one should:
While trying to foil a Kraang invasion plot, the Turtles are hunted by a giant cockroach.
Eeeeeeeessshhhh. Still, can’t wait for it! Unfortunately, there’s no clip on Nick.com yet, but if one shows up I’ll update this post. “Cockroach Terminator” airs this Friday at 7pm on Nick.
Turtles are where it’s at right now and I hope our Teenage Mutant Ninja Vignettes: Heroes in a Half Scene Building Contest has those creative juices oozing. This mini tribute to the full-size original toys by LegoJalex has been in my “to blog” for over a week, but I’d say now would be an appropriate time. It’s a fun build that makes me once again nostalgic for the old cartoon, even if the Shreddermobile was a ridiculous toy. I’m still waiting on the latest episode of the Nicktoon… and I was all caught up too.
Time to get building.
Today’s Friday, also known as TMNT Friday to me anyway. Tonight at 7pm catch the latest episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, titled “TCRI: The Plot Thickens”.
While breaking into TCRI headquarters, the Turtles discover the true intent of the Kraang and resolve to stop the alien invasion.
So, yeah, I’m really enjoying the new TMNT cartoon. And when I ran across the above MOC (thanks to ninnymuggins), I was thrilled. M.R. Yoder (yoderism) is reconstructing the underground turtles’ lair in the sewers of New York along with a section of the city above ground all the way up to April O’neil’s apartment. It’s a work in progress, but even at this stage, it’s coming along rather nicely. Check out the full flickr set for more pics.
Amazon has put all of the January 2013 assortments on pre-order status with a shipping date set for December 31. Even Galaxy Squad and that stuff was on sale days ahead of every other theme. This is speculation on my part but it’s most likely because Toys’R’Us complained about losing sales to Amazon since Amazon doesn’t have a holiday price gouge markup that TRU does. That and it probably violated TRU’s first-to-market contract. Whatever. Hope you ordered when you did. Shop@Home seems to be the only place to get some of the new stuff right now, like TMNT, Galaxy Squad, and Friends at MSRP, but you’ll be paying for express shipping in time for Christmas.
Or you could be insane and walk into a Toys’R’Us store during the last week before the holiday and attempt to get a price match.
Or just wait a few weeks and they’ll be everywhere.
Update: I should clarify that all NEW orders will be delayed until the end of the month. Any orders placed before today should still ship out as normal.
Today is the 19th, also known as on-sale day for TMNT through LEGO Shop@Home. If you missed out on Amazon, you can still order in time for Christmas delivery so long as you choose Express Shipping at checkout. It’s a bit of a premium but isn’t it worth your child’s/nephew’s/niece’s/grandchild’s happiness? You can’t put a price on that now can you?
Full list below.
Just a quick note since I’m tired. First up is Amazon selling The Hobbit sets at a 20% discount. Example: 79010 The Goblin King Battle is regularly $99.99 but it is now $79.99. 79000 Riddles for The Ring is the worst deal since they’ve already marked it up a few bucks over MSRP. After discount, the set only falls to $9.49, a whopping 50 cent discount. They’re out of 79003 An Unexpected Gathering, but you can pick up 79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders and 79002 Attack of the Wargs at 20% less than MSRP.
And lastly, Amazon has stocked up on some more TMNT sets. In addition to 79104 The Shellraiser Street Chase that we’ve reported previously, they also have 79101 Shredder Dragon Bike, 79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit, and 79100 Kraang Lab Escape in stock as well. No discount on the turtle stuff unfortunately but they are brand new in every sense of the word and can make some kids very happy this Christmas.
LEGO uploaded two new designer videos two days ago to their Youtube chanel detailing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles themes. Each video, part 1 above and part 2 below, weighs in at around five minutes. Why they didn’t just cut it into one video is beyond me. Do they think it’s a matter of time? Are people going to watch part 1 and then not watch part 2? Just seems like more work for everyone involved. Anyhoo, in the description of the video, they link to turtles.lego.com which is their portal page for the theme. And here I was wondering why teenagemutantninjaturtles.lego.com and tmnt.lego.com weren’t working. There isn’t much there yet but I imagine it’ll fill with all the usual kid-friendly content as time goes on. I haven’t watched the videos yet but thanks go to the ever helpful ninnymuggins for giving me something to waste some time on.
