LEGO Shop@Home sent out assets and an official press release for their upcoming exclusive, 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van. It looks like a great companion set to their 10187 Volkswagen Beetle set from a few years back, even if they’re not the same scale. Priced at $99.99, the T1 has 1,322 pieces and will be available for sale beginning of October 2011. Oh, how I wish it was available this Tuesday. Full press release below after more pictures and their making-of video.

LEGO Updates Shop@Home with 10221 Page

LEGO updated their Shop@Home site by adding a page 10221 Super Star Destroyer. It’s marked as “Coming Soon on null” which is obviously a database error. The real on-sale date is scheduled for September 1 but if history shows a pattern, it may show up a few days earlier than that.

Thanks to jake for the heads up.

Continuing the winter scene series, the Winter Village Post Office is the perfect snow-covered setting. From the pavilion outside, musicians fill the air with music, while children take in the wintry atmosphere by the park bench before throwing snowballs at each other – the musicians had better get ready to duck!

Clarification: Shop@Home Catalog Coupon

LEGO Brand Retail

I’ve been asked to clarify a point on a post I made a few days ago about a coupon that appeared on the back of my LEGO Shop@Home catalog:

  • The 10% coupon offer was sent to all catalog subscribers within a 60 mile radius of a LEGO Store.
  • To redeem the coupon, the physical coupon must be presented in store.
  • The offer cannot be used online or over the phones.

LEGO Shop@Home, Brand Retail Promotions

LEGO Brand Retail

There’s a couple of LEGO Shop@Home promotions going on right now that’s worth mentioning:

Sales and Deals: Their Sales and Deals page still has quite a few sets on sale. You can check out the original post for some quick links.

Free Shipping: Order $75 dollars or more before tax and shipping and you can get free shipping on your order. Offer is good through 11:59pm EST July 15th, 2011. Check out the full details.

Free Kingdoms Polybag set: If you manage to hit the $75 threshold for free shipping, you’ll also score a free Kingdoms polybag set (#30062). Item is automatically added to cart upon checkout.

10% off coupon: I received the latest Shop@Home catalog in the mail today and on the back of the catalog was a 10% off coupon good at LEGO Brand Retail stores. 10% isn’t much, better than nothing, and it’s good to see coupons like this for the stores.

POTC Chrome Gold Replacement Parts

Disappointed by the lack of chrome gold elements in the Pirates of the Caribbean sets even though it’s right there on the box? Yeah, me too. But apparently LEGO is doing something about it. According to a fellow LUG member, if you contact customer service and express your disappointment by their bait and switch tactic, they will send you the proper replacement parts. And in the age of the internet, the golden rule is “pics or it didn’t happen”. So here you go:

New Gold Elements

Here’s hoping that further productions of the sets will have the updated elements.

Shop@Home Free Shipping Offer, Preorder Final Potter Sets

LEGO Brand Retail

LEGO Shop@Home has a free shipping offer from May 16th (yesterday) through May 31st with a purchase of $75 or more. No code necessary. No checkbox to check. I really hope that for those of you who pre-ordered the Cars sets scored the free shipping (assuming that you ordered at least $75 worth of sets AND it shipped out yesterday and not any earlier).

Also, if you’re a VIP member and order something LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean between May 16 and May 31, you’ll also get a free LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean poster with your purchase. No purchase minimum, no code, no checkbox. The only caveat is that you must be logged into your VIP account when you place your order.

And lastly, you can preorder the final three ho-hum Harry Potter sets. Scheduled to ship by June 1, the final three sets are:

[UK] Advent Calendars 50% Off

I guess since December’s already started, Shop@Home UK is looking to move their stock of advent calendars. Both the LEGO City and LEGO Kingdoms are marked down to £12.49. The Kingdoms one is marked “Call to check product availability” so stock is near depleted on that one.

10215 Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter On Sale Monday 10/25

10215 Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter - 8

In addition to finding the set on the shelves early, I just got the official word that 10215 Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter will go on sale officially on Monday October 25, days earlier than the November 1 on sale date announced previously. Hooray?

Try as I might, I can’t bring myself to justify this set. It is neither aesthetically pleasing, nor visually interesting in any way. The economics of the set just plain stinks as well. 676 pieces for a Benjamin? Pass. But hey, I understand there are some of you who are looking forward to this set. To each their own I guess.

7753 Pirate Tank… Has Returned?

7753 Pirate Tank

I can’t recall if the Target-exclusive 7753 Pirate Tank disappeared completely from LEGO Shop@Home. I know it hit clearance at Target a few weeks back for 50% off, but I never bothered checking Shop@Home. In any case, it’s now available for purchase from LEGO for $39.99. If you missed this set, I wouldn’t hesitate in picking it up now while you still can.
