TC-14 Hi-res Images

Postby Staff » Fri May 04, 2012 8:04 am

5000063 TC-14

A feast for your eyes! I just received these hi-res images of TC-14. I'm sold. With a more realistic looking torso, it adds a conundrum about C-3PO. Should he be re-released with the new print pattern? Or should LEGO leave him alone and finally get around to doing a chrome R2? C'mon LEGO, his nickname is even chrome dome. What does it take to get it done?

TC-14 can be yours for FREE with a LEGO Star Wars purchase of $75 or more today and tomorrow at LEGO Shop@Home and LEGO Brand Retail Stores.

Yes. There is no conundrum. I don't see a conundrum. I want to fill a vault with golden chromed C-3POs and go all Scrooge McDuck.
chrome R2?

YES. Why hasn't this happened yet? Why are we still living with gray-domed R2s. It took years to move past the white domes, but at least those has silvery printing. /firstworldproblems

Doesn't the C-3PO in the new Droid Escape set have a very similar torso print?

He does. Shows the wires and everything. Also has the new, yellow, eyes. Looks a whole lot better than the old model imo.

Can't wait to get my TC-14. Ordered the TIE Fighter and Visual Dictionary last night (for the exclusive fig) as soon as the offer was available. Thinking about adding a second order just to get another TC-14... >_>

I just did that.
The only sets I need are the Hoth Base, Executor and the Podracer set so I went ahead ordered the Podracers. I'd been holding out for clearance or at least a good sale on them all but I suppose it was a good enough deal. gorram you LEGO and your effective marketing.

I probably would have ordered the Executor too if I hadn't just blown my hobby wad this morning on some much larger pieces of ABS... The shiny white kind that you wear. I have to say that today had been a pretty good Star Wars day for this nerd.

Now if I can just make it through the day without ordering the Hoth Base i'll be good.

I'm going to still refer to this as a chrome silver 3P0 to go with my chrome gold one. Now all we need is chrome bronze. If that's even possible.

I prefer to think of him as the chrome droid at the start of A New Hope rather than anything associated with the prequel trilogy.

I was considering that too, but then i realized that the only good things about it were the bacta tank Luke and the red 3PO. And the red 3PO isn't even as appealing now that the chrome silver one is so absolutely awesome.

Ah yes, U-3PO. E-3PO from The Empire Strikes Back would be a good choice, too. E-3PO even had a speaking part.

Does anyone know how many of these they are going to make for the promotion. I am thinking quite a few. The store said they were limited to only giving them out on May 4th and 5th. Did that apply to those ordering online too?

I did 2 purchases so I got 2 of them. One for display and the other will be for trades in the near future.

Got my TC14 yesterday! Had to buy the podracer set but it was discounted! The figure itself is very impressive. It just stinks the hands are not chrome as well. Now if I could only get that Darth Maul...

You would then be compelled to chase after some other item, and another after that, and another after that. The treadmill of acquiring material things will never make you truly happy. :)

I can see the point of that because the paint would rub off when putting items in the hands.

I will have to wait for delivery though as Denmark had a bank holiday on Friday, so they won't start processing orders until Monday.
