Luke Skywalker Turns 60

Postby Staff » Sun Sep 25, 2011 7:44 pm

Mark Hamill may be best known as the farmboy turned Jedi knight, but he's had an incredible voice acting career as well. Having worked on such animated series' as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Spongebob Squarepants, Winnie the Pooh and multiple roles in both the Marvel and DC animated universes from Spider-man to Batman. The latter includes his most recurring and enduring characterization as the Dark Knight's clown prince of crime, the Joker. If that wasn't reason enough to wish him a Happy 60th Birthday on this site, then lending his voice to an official LEGO cartoon ought to do it.

Some people argue about who's the best Joker...Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson...but Mark's voice takes the cake. His voice work is top notch. He and Anthony Daniels were the only ones that bothered to voice all three Star Wars Radio Dramas so I'm grateful for that as well. He never got too full of himself and is great with the fans.

The Joker was certainly Mark Hamill's best voice role (R-O-L-E). :D

I watched some kind of TV show where Mark Hammil was driving through Africa on his motorcycle with
his friends, and they visited the palce where Tatooine scenes were made.

Well, happy birthday to pilot of most beautifull SW vehicle (X-wing).

Padawan became a Jedi!

How many of you fanboys remember his role in Speilberg's "Amazing Stories"?

This is no knock on Mark Hamill, but he actually didn't provide Luke's voice in the Return of the Jedi radio drama. That time it was Joshua Fardon. But the simple fact that he worked on the first two proves he wasn't looking to put Star Wars in his rear view mirror, unlike some of the other principal actors.

Ah, you're right. I knew he sounded different but just figured he didn't have the same Luke voice since they took so long to record RotJ.

I'm surprised to see that he's that old already. time sure flies. He's holding up better than Carrie Fisher though. She's currently in a Jenny Craig Commercial and is almost unrecognizable.
