A major part of the Q T.I.P.s' design was influenced by the high rate of R2 attrition by random shots, thus the added armor and hatch housing the R2 unit.

With the chase armament folded forward into attack position the Q T.I.P. would have been able to take on many of its larger opponents.

Sadly even with the help of the R2 unit, the rigors of simultaneously piloting the ship and controlling the highly maneuverable chase armament proved too much for one pilot and the Q T.I.P. was mothballed.

Also, the white disks holding it up in some pictures aren't landing gear, they were just used to lift it off the table so the wings could fold out.
