FBTB Community Project: Battle Tauntauns

I figured "Community Build", and not "Contest", allowed me a little more freedom in this.

Description from my Flickr page:
"After spending months on the icy wastes of Hoth, some Rebel engineers were getting homesick for warmer climates. It showed in their designs.

A small computer is implanted into the Tauntaun's brain, giving it subconscious control over the quad laser cannons and dual grenade launchers as well as pointing out which targets are friendly and which are threats and driving the tauntaun to attack."

weren't the tauntauns native to the planet? never really considered that they were imported...

Tauntauns are native to Hoth, but they were exported to other planets; but only to cold weather climates like polar regions and what-not. I guess Robzula's build will be the Animal House of Tauntauns (Onions being the Dean yelling at Robzula's build ) but i digress...

Personally i love this build and am working hard on it!

Only question i have, whats the time limit? One week from post? Two? A month?

there's no time limit just build and post when you're done. this will be ongoing and probably won't close. community projects are usually open-ended with no end date.

seeing the castle themed battle tauntaun in the group pool made me realize i may have been a little narrow in my scope. so i say build any battle tauntaun from any theme/planet/climate/franchise you want!

This was frustrating for me! Not that I didn't enjoy it, but nothing I wanted to do worked! So I thought I post this one, though it feels a little derivative) and go back to the drawing board. I thought of making one of the Tauntaun's arms robotic but despite the 50 different ways I tried, nothing looked quite right. But it was a fun little build, cheers!

Even with all the armour my tauntauns are as evasive as Lionel Messi. Hoods are for middle-aged, beer-swilling tauntauns. No, seriously, I was debating whether to add one, I'll get on it later this afternoon.

Maybe I went overboard with the "armor" part, but I envisioned a Tauntaun outfitted with armor made of Snowspeeder parts, where the Tauntaun is wearing a tank.

This was a fun build! What a great idea for a community project. Here is my contribution. I liked GIR3691's idea of outfitting the tauntaun with scrap parts from a downed snowspeeder, so I went that direction as well (used 4500). He's not as armored as I would have liked, so I may attempt another, but I liked how it turned out anyway.
