Barnes & Noble BOGO sale

Postby that guy » Wed Jun 23, 2010 8:05 am

Just got an email today from B&N for Buy one get 50% off on all toys and it ends June 28th. I searched all Lego and it appears everything they have will work with the sale, even things like Falling Water and other high dollar sets and most have free shipping. Not the greatest selection but maybe there's something there you are looking for....

Don't forget to use the following code on top of the BOGO to get another $5 off

X4M8N7L

This makes the fallingwater set when you buy two = $68 shipped to canada, that's the lowest online price one could get into canada!

I found a Barnes & Noble coupon code for 40% off the list price of one Toys and Games item. Expires 7/2/10. Code: R8Y7E3H. I just used it to get the $30 Prince of Persia set for $18, which also has a free shipping deal at the moment.

Neither the R8Y7E3H or X4M8N7L is working for me when I try to make an order to Canada, not sure if I'm doing something wrong. It says you need to be a member for the X4M8N7L.

sale was working fine, i had a couple of prince of persia sets in my shopping cart and threw the code in to get the extra 40% off just to check price, I removed the items to throw a couple of star wars sets in to check their price and it told me the code could no longer be used, only one per customer... I never finished my first order, so I find it kind of extreme that once you put it in, it counts as a use. Any one know a way around this using the same account, my only idea is to make a new account and try it again...

I tried clearing cookies to no avail. I was however to use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox and it worked, wished it would work again so I can place another order

Edit - I think certain sets are not working with this code.

I cannot for the life of me get the 40% code and the BOGO 50% off to work at the same time - I can only get one or the other to apply:-(

At least theres nothing on the site that I'm dying to have, I don't need to spend the money now anyway

I can confirm the coupon code isn't working for me either. I tried to do falling water and the apple house and neither coupon worked. thanks for the heads up though! would have been nice but you can't get in on em all :)

I'm starting to get the impression based on experiments within my cart that the BOGO only applies to Prince of Persia and it may only apply to one deal at a time (i.e. order 2 PoP sets and use the 40% code and you should be getting BOGO +40% prices)...or something like that. It's not quite calculating as I'd expect, but it's definitely cheaper than retail and there's definitely something beyond the BOGO going on when you have 2 PoP sets of the same value in your cart. Maybe I'm a B&N member and forgot about it. Anywho, I came away with 2 copies of 7570 Ostrich Race for a total of $23 (MSRP $19.99).

It's one or the other (BOGO or 40%). Even the pictured deal only got 40% off. He didn't get BOGO and 40% if you look at the math. So the 40% is the better deal no matter what you buy with POP. But the 40% is ONLY working on POP sets so everything else is just BOGO.

Well then....this deal is simply meh...unless you are determined to get some POP sets. The coupon code is only good for.....blah. I wish ACE would correct the front page to reflect the limited terms. Again, decent deal if you are into POP.

btw, For those looking for free money, I also found a 5 dollar bill on the sidewalk a week ago, but terms and conditions apply, you market may vary.

Same here, I got the BOGO + 40% + free shipping on two Ostriches. Thanks for the heads-up!

I hate to dispute that, but you only got the 40% off. You didn't get BOGO + 40%. Each set is $18x2=36-40%=$22(ish). Ok it's rounded math but you get the idea. True BOGO + 40% would be $18+$9=27-40%=$16(ish).

From my experimentation, it seems like everything is just in the ballpark of 50% off, following Nannan's example. I got the following prices, depending on what was in the cart. It seems like if the MSRP value of the order total goes over $50, it knocks about 50% off both sets in cart. With two sets in the cart at a time I got:

SP Smash N' Grab $9.97
PoP Quest Against Time $29.97
Echo Base $17.37
Seattle Space Needle $9.97
Empire State Building $9.97
SP Police Raid VPR $4.97

EDIT: After an hour or so of total over-analyzing, I got two of the VPRs.

The 40% off only applies to some of the Lego sets, they need to be classified as "Toys and Games" on their description.

And the free shipping is for the US only.

Ok, once again. Nobody is getting the BOGO + 40%. That would equal 55% off IN the cart (not 50% off the total which counts the item starting at 10% off their inflated retail then 40% in the cart like many of the examples demonstrate here). Yes I agree that in some cases it's a great deal but that's it, nobody is double dipping the discounts.
