I think it's safe to say that I am very exciting about this set. I think I'll go ahead and clear off a spot to display it.

Doesn't quite look minifig scale, but I'll get over it.

That is an exceptionally clean looking set. I'm impressed.

Pfft, the designers really blew it; its proportions are totally wrong.

Groovy! 7166 as it was meant to be.

I wouldn't mind seeing a UCS version of the Republic Attack Gunship...AFTER a few other OT offerings of course.

Totally cool. If I didn't just sell of my complete UCS collection...I would have bought this in a heartbeat.

It looks like it will have retractable landing gear but it doesn't leave much clearance for a boarding ramp. It is a beautiful set though and I like the box art.

If you actually go to the Gizmodo article, clicking on the pics results in much higher resolution pics so you can see all the details up close.

Edit: Nevermind, onions updated his post to include the high-res pics.

looks absolutely beautiful, this is the set I have been waiting for ever since getting the first shuttle. The only thing I am concerned with is the under the cockpit where the ramp comes down, figures should be able to walk strait down under the cockpit, maybe it's just a picture issue but it doesn't quite look like a fig will be able to fit. I hope to god this includes a ramp, I mean how could it not?

 I needed this, thanks!

Can't wait until September...gonna be a very expensive LEGO month! Sweet thing is that I can forego shipping now on Exclusives with the new LEGO store opening up here in Calgary! XD

I'm glad LOC is making this, but I have a few issues with the design.

1) Ramp - as already mentioned. I'd be really disappointed if this wasn't part of a UCS offering.
2) Technic bricks - I'm not a big fan of the "pot hole / dented" look of the wings due to the abundant Technic connector arms. I'm sure they're there for structural support - but I think the wings should have an overall "smoother" look.
3) Cockpit size - from the pic, it looks like only 2 minifigs can be seated? In the movie, 4 minifigs fit in the cockpit - a la Millenium Falcon. So, if this is truly UCS / minifig scale, then 4 minifigs should fit into the cockpit.
4) Nose of the shuttle - does not look accurate. That's going to require some MOC.

Love the retractable landing gear and moveable wings. Still not a fan of the new SW face prints though.

There is just no pleasing some people.

FWIW, I love the wing design. The liftarms give them a really nice textured look. I think it looks pretty cool :)

My predictions.
No ramp
Can vaguely see two figs in cockpit on box.
Wings linked to landing gear mechanism like Torrent set, only partial room inside for other figures.
Still will buy it because it looks nice, even though not to scale.

It looks amazing. I'm psyched! Nice to see the nose details, I was curious how it was done (not an easy assembly to make happen!), looks well thought out. The landing gear even includes gear doors...wow! My only disappointment is the height/possible lack of ramp, but that is easily fixed.

I actually think it's kinda charming. For me, it doesn't detract at all from the sleekness, and if anything, maybe adds an extra "industrial" kind of element, sort of like bolts on an airplane.

I second this motion.

I want this set so m-f'n bad I can taste it. And I think this may be my favorite box art that I've ever seen. I love the colors of the Endor background.

This is a beautiful looking set of one of my favourite SW vehicles. However, I do worry this may be another UCS Falcon and lack an interior for passengers which would be quite disappointing.
