thanks for the responses all; it's more to do with not knowing what the extra pieces would be, without building the actual set and not being DQ'd for the use of them if any end up in my Alt.

^ That was a little confusing but if you're asking what the leftover pieces are, Bricklink will show a set's extra pieces listed on its inventory page. Just go here, then scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says Extra Items for the Shuttle's leftover parts.

Several great entries so far! I've had my MOC ready for about a week now, but have been without internet service so I couldn't upload my photos. After seeing what some other folks have submitted, it is with some trepidation that I submit my own entry, the HC-17 Luxury Transport.

I used the rear windscreen from one of the snowspeeder sets. The cover to the engine pod (behind the seat) is removable to reveal an engine inside (I basically just threw in a bunch of greebles). Also features angled forward airfoils, dual thrusters, and a small cargo hold that doubles as a bumper (basically a vanity cargo hold for a briefcase or something). Please pardon the primitive display stand!

Let's see... sarlacc Model built, photos uploaded, pictures added to the Outpost... and now for my post here.

CephaloPOD

Image

A squid-type fighter ship, an early CIS design. It, like the Vulture droid, has a droid mind of its own, so no pilot is needed. Includes four tentacle-like "hands", triple lasers, a signal antenna, and an infrared eye to boot.

What are the regs on stands? Can I use some clear starwars blasters to hold my model up?

My entry for the sarlacc Model - No wide-screen or addtional pieces

CJ-7 Separatist Fighter

This fighter was designed for an external pilot rather than a built-in droid cognitive processor. The aim of this star-fighter is to encourage other Separatist worlds to field their own pilots to expand the Separatist army.

Armaments:
Twin auto-cannons
Artillery Cannon
Control:
Single Pilot (Mechanical or Organic Sentient) - Requires hatch to be opened on top to enter
Overview monitor (shown in other pictures of cockpit) No need for wide screen, armor plates to protect pilot
Fold-able Landing gears

Second box of Lego I bought in 12 years. . .

Question:

So I submitted a model that doesn't have a widescreen, because the rules says and still says you "may" use a widescreen piece of your choice. And I chose not to use one. So I ask now, My. Onion do I need to use a widescreen piece. Also I see you said we needed a to fit a minifig as a pilot, where I see a post for a ship that says it did not need a pilot because it is a like a droid fighter with its own brain etc. I am only worried because it seems some guy told me my entry is not acceptable because I do not have a widescreen. I thought it would be even more challenging to not use a widescreen piece and I think in my opinion only that I sort of pulled it off. I only want to know what I am suppose to do and not do, because it seems to me another entry did not follow the rules. I followed them with the best of my abilities. I am worried because I submitted it a few hours already and its on flickr but not on the blog.

Feel free to delete this message if it turns out I did get my entry in and I was just paranoid...

O never mind I see now it says its a requirement to have a canopy. I read the instructions the first day and stuck with you "may." A proper ship doesn't need a canopy, just some creativity. Forget it I forfeit!

I don't have the best picture but here is my shot at the contest:

I think I used about 80 percent of the pieces.

Well after half a dozen tries I think I found one that might make it past the first wave of voting. Unlike some previous attempts to hold a candle in the wind storm of awesomeness that is the FBTB Contests.
