That seems odd to me. I mean, I confess I have not really followed the Bionicle line at all, but looking at those, I would automatically assume that they WERE Bionicle if not told otherwise.

What is the point in replacing Bionicle with something so similar? I guess I don't really know what it was about Bionicle that wasn't working for them.

I think Bionicle were more skeletal in nature, these have the same type of solid torso that the Ben 10 figures have.

They look like Bionicles on steriods. I won't be collecting these. I got the first couple of waves of Bionicles and have had them packed away for so long. I'm thinking about selling them off. I just don't use/display them anymore.

I don't get this AT ALL!! We'll fatten up Bioncle with some extra plastic cos they're getting on a bit, and give them porn star names??? Is Randy Spears going to be in the second wave?

Does that first model really look like a Preston Stormer?? ..... Weird.

These seem kind of odd to me, I wonder if they'll catch on. Like with the Ben 10 sets, a lot of the pieces other than the arms seem to have very few connection points, reducing their utilizability. While I wasn't a big fan of the Bionicle sets as they were, I really liked seeing some of the giant Bionicle MOCs that would show up at cons, and I'm hoping that these don't effectively prevent those large MOCs from showing up in the future.

My thoughts aswell lol. I have mixed feelings at the moment, but the premise from what I read seems pretty cool, aswell as that teaser video.

Yes, those names are very odd.

I mean, they basically look like fighting robots. The trailer certainly made them look like they were robots (though I don't have sound here, so maybe they said something to suggest otherwise). Who names a heavily weaponed robot "Natalie"?

Well, Avner and Shelley Portman, for one.

And yeah, the comment about "porn-star names" made me giggle when I re-read the names. Duncan Bulk ftw.

Other than that, though, I haven to agree that these really don't seem like any improvement over Bionicle. I'm not really sure what I expected, but I didn't really think they'd make things worse. Oh well, plenty of other lines to spend money on, so not too big of a loss.

This is from an article in the March ToyFare (#151):

The heroes are designed, built and equipped depending on specific missions that beam in from remote areas. Their missions focus on defeating evil villains lurking throughout galaxies. It is up to the users to define the missions and build their heroes. [Hero Factory] has a very different look and feel to it. Customization is key for the line and we feel this will appeal to the older fan as well as the kids. It is a large part of what makes Hero Factory unique.

Apparently there's going to be a DC comic and some game with online customizability...yadda, yadda, yadda. For some reason, Lincoln Armstrong looks like Vince Shlomi in my imagination.

So, is this tied into Bionicle in some way? I can see the Bionicle logo on the box art, so I'd assume it has something to do with it, but I was under the impression this was something different.

I thought they specifically said this was replacing Bionicle, and therefore NOT Bionicle. The boxes you're seeing the Bionicle logo on I'm guessing are the ones from Toy Fair, which would be preliminary. They probably just have it on there so people know what line this is taking over and it will be removed in the final product.

Looks like these things are up on Shop@Home (US). Personally, I don't get it. I'm kind of curious to know what took place at the "what if Bionicle had people names" meeting.
