[NEW STUFF] 10210 – Imperial Flagship!

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

No, it means they all are. And while some people will keep buying them, I won't unless I find them on sale, and if I don't then so be it. This is how I was 10+ years ago... it was too expensive for me, I didn't buy. I didn't get back into LEGO as an AFOL until I got some train sets that were on sale. I wouldn't have bought them otherwise.

No great loss to TLG, I'm sure.

Awesome!

It's nice that the Imperials finally get a large ship!

I'm not sure if I'll get this, but if I do, it'll be a nice birthday present next year. You can easily moc it to add extra cannons not only on the lower deck. but on the upper deck too.

Just because the comparison isn't part of your decision process, doesn't make it 'retarded' (which is a pretty offensive term, to be honest). Different folk have different metrics for evaluating 'value' to themselves; I'm not interested in the set for it's "display value", only the enjoyment of the build & the use of the parts to me for building MOCs, so the cost-per-part is a big part of my decision process on whether to buy or not. The selection of parts also plays a big part in the equation, and big hull pieces aren't high on my 'value' scale of bricks - got loads already, thanks.

Oh, yeah, thanks for reminding me why I hadn't been visiting fubtub a whole lot recently.

I didn't mean to offend you with a post...so if you were offended, my apologies.

True, for MOCers the more parts the better in general. My point is, you can't tell what parts are in a set that big...just looking at the number of parts means next to nothing, for all you know it's filled with a few hundred 1x1 plates. I just don't see why the number of parts is the first thing anyone looks at and compares with the price when it shouldn't have much to do with the price at all.

A word is a word. What people should be finding offensive is not the words themselves but the intent behind the words.

By definition, that word is not supposed to have a negative connotation. However, the way you used it did. I too take offense (but I realize that wasn't the intent) because a sibling of a friend is 'retarded.' Pick and choose words carefully, even if they've become common usage with another meaning.

Anyway, the ship itself looks fantastic. If I was a pirates kind of guy, I'd be weeping with joy. Fact of the matter is, I can only afford to stick with one theme, and for me, it has been and will be Star Wars.

Love this! I thought the remake of the pirate ship was good, but this is excellent, well thought out model.
I have an older ship from the first pirate series, but this looks heaps better, the ships have come along way, well done Lego on a really good looking model.
Hope the price is reasonable though, regards Marty.

I've never thought I'd ever post a (pointless) comment about how much I love a set without some decent content. However, this set just deserves it: woot!

I'll get this as soon as it is available. I mean, the first real ship-rigged.. um .. ship LEGO does as a set can't be missed (three square rigged masts): Wow. There's space for improvement, so I'll need more than one (one to keep original, one to modify for more realism and possibly another one to keep MISB and build in 10 years).

Sorry to say this Don, but I live in Australia, and usually they add on more because of this, even if I worked out the difference from UK pounds to Australian dollars, it still wouldn't be right, it's whatever Lego has deem the price of the model is for here in Australia. Though it will be interesting to see, regards Marty

That would be saying they are gone for good. I prefer thinking this is the first of a new wave of yet to comes, since LEGO said it would be a theme rotating in and out.

I don't have any sets from the Pirates line, but after spending more than a few minutes looking at the flyer included with shop.lego.com orders, this could be my first. It looks to be fairly detailed for a mini-fig scale set. I hope someone posts a review when it is available, it might my decision making process a lot easier.

You have pirate in your name. How could you not have any pirate sets?

Uh oh, I'm busted! :) Actually I picked the user name based on Lando's line in ESB. "How you doin', you old pirate?" Billy Dee Williams got all the good lines.

That said, my pirate set deficiency will hopefully be addressed in early 2010. The Imperial Flagship looks too sweet to pass up. How cool would this thing look parked next to Jabba's Sail Barge? After all, these types of ships were part of the initial inspiration for the sail barge.

So I was at my LEGO Brand Store at opening on New Year's Day, hungover and all, to get my Flagship. I built it in about 3 hours (yes, 3 hours, it took a long time... this from a very experienced LEGO builder who always wins the speed builds at his local LUG meetings) that night. Seriously... it is amazing! Worth every penny of LEGO store credit I spent on it. ;)

What an awesome set. THis just screams to have a Pirates of the Caribbean licensed line! Man, who wouldn't want to own the Flying Dutchman and all of those really cool sea monster crew! Not to mention Jack Sparrow and his lot of course.
