This site’s been around since… I think around Nineteen Ninety-nine. At least, that’s about the time frame I discovered it back when it was part of Yakface. That’s also pretty much about the time I got into the whole LEGO thing. Star Wars was just the Trojan Horse that would open the gates to a hobby I was ill-prepared for. This was seven years ago. During the course of that time, I’ve amassed a small collection of sets mostly from the Star Wars family with a smattering here and there of various other themes. My most recent acquisition would be 6212 X-wing Fighter, aka the $50 helmet set. Coming home from Toys’R’Us and adding the set to the top of the heap reminded me of a problem I’ve been ignoring for a long time.
See, I live in a small apartment. By regular standards, it would be spacious for two. But after seven years of collecting and building LEGO, I’ve run out of room. My once glorious work space in the loft has been reassigned to storage space duties. The stairs leading up to the loft is littered with LEGO sets, other toys, and half-baked ideas. It’s embarassing to show people. Yes, I admit, I am having space issues. I’ve reached critical mass in my apartment and will probably look into off-site storage options within the next week.
There are some of you that have just discovered this universe of LEGO Star Wars, or maybe even just LEGO and happened to come upon this site during your travels through the internet. There are others that have been with FBTB from the beginning. Surely, I am not alone in my dilemma. With all that being said, I’ve set up a poll on the right. In other news, I’m sure some of you have noticed, maybe more noticeably than others, that I’ve been “away” for the past two or three months. I’ve been neglecting lots of things, mostly by choice and hopefully I won’t regret it. Heck, even my Picture of the Day project has been neglected. I can’t even remember when I started, but my freelance job is over. My work deadlines have passed. Coincidentally, deadlines from both landed on the same day.
I feel like I went through finals week and am ready to party. I’ll probably be away for another week or two, but will still check up on things. Staring at a computer screen and working for 95% of your waking hours isn’t fun. I need to unplug, “chillax”, and do some more analog things for a bit, like play with my dog.
