79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit, 79103 Turtle Lair Attack Revealed

Danish website Brixit posted images of the box art for two upcoming TMNT sets, 79102 Stealth Shell in Pursuit, above, and 79103 Turtle Lair Attack, below. Gonna take a wild guess and say Splinter will only be available through the Lair set.

Thanks to Anonymous Tipster for the tip.

    [NYCC] Exclusives

A lot to chew on from this year’s NYCC LEGO booth. We got two new exclusive TMNT minifigures and a new collectible Star Wars tin set.

Honestly I was extremely disappointed that there were two exclusive Ninja Turtles minifigures for NYCC after SDCC had four awesome super hero minifigs earlier this year. Rather than a short cycling line to pick up minifigures, they used a raffle system for the black Ninja Turtle with an awesome NYCC-stickered skateboard. (more…)

I’ve been attending New York Comic Con since 2009. This year was my first time as an exhibitor, which was a completely new experience. I am a member of I LUG NY, the New York tri-state area LEGO User Group. A few months ago, LEGO community relations manager Jim Foulds approached us with the opportunity to create a fan display for the convention. We were asked to have Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and Lord of the Rings represented. A LUG member each took charge of a theme, and we worked in teams over many weeks to build a display. We adopted the MILS standard of building to produce a modular display that could be rearranged depending on what area dimensions we had to fill. It worked out great, and we are all really proud of the result.

[NYCC] LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles License Announced

New York Comic Con kicks off today and this year marks the first official presence of LEGO at the show, and they come out swinging. Tons of stuff being announced today. I’ll start with the biggest news piece: LEGO TMNT is a reality. The rumors were true and I couldn’t think of a better venue than the New York Comic Con to make the announcement. Two press releases after the jump:

    [NYCC] Minifigure Giveaway Details

What comic con with a LEGO presence would be complete without some sort of minifig giveaway? As with San Diego Comic Con, LEGO is giving away a couple exclusive minifigs, but only one will be available at the show. First up is the Dark Turtle, pictured above, from the newly announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license. He will be given away via raffle on Thursday starting at 4pm, and again on Friday and Saturday at 11am. The second figure, below, is the new Krang Android also from the TMNT line and switching things up a bit, he will be available on Saturday through the Rockefeller Center LEGO Store.

This is preliminary information so visit the LEGO booth for exact details. Good luck!

It should come as no surprise that LEGO is spreading core characters from a license across multiple sets. It makes sense from a marketing stand point. TMNT is no exception as the four figures above come from three different sets, and two of which comes from the Shellraiser set. I can only assume that there will be multiple versions of each turtle with different face and/or body prints. We’ll find out more info when the sets launch next year.

This set will be unveiled at the 2012 New York Comic Con on Thursday October 11. Rick “GIR3691” Theoroux will be there to shoot pictures and provide a first hand impression of the set.

Before you slam the appearance of the Shellraiser, you should keep in mind the context in which the Shellraiser came to be. The turtles don’t have money or the resources that people like Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark have, so they make do with what they can find on the streets.
