  • Heroes In A Half Scale. Tiny Turtle Power!

    Turtle Party Wagon vs Shreddermobile

Turtles are where it’s at right now and I hope our Teenage Mutant Ninja Vignettes: Heroes in a Half Scene Building Contest has those creative juices oozing. This mini tribute to the full-size original toys by LegoJalex has been in my “to blog” for over a week, but I’d say now would be an appropriate time. It’s a fun build that makes me once again nostalgic for the old cartoon, even if the Shreddermobile was a ridiculous toy. I’m still waiting on the latest episode of the Nicktoon… and I was all caught up too.

    Time to get building.

  • [CAN] Free Guantlet With $30 Star Wars Purchase @ TRU

    30241 Mandalorian Fighter

Headline says it all really. Noticed this on the weekend then got distracted, so better late than never. They have the obligatory 20% off on Creator and City, but you’ll have to try some sweet talk if you want to score a Mando Fighter without the Star Wars purchase. Deal started on Friday, and supplies are limited so get going if you want one.

  • 30211 Uruk-Hai with ballista at Five Below in US

For those lucky enough to live near a Five Below store, they seem to have -lots- of set 30211 Uruk-Hai with excuse to call it a set and not just a minifigure. These sets are priced at $3.99. For those of you not lucky enough Five Below is a discount store where everything costs below $5. Clever, eh?

    Today's purchases

They also had a couple of Harry Potter Polybags; 30110 Trolley and 40028 Hogwarts Express.
Oh, and if you couldn’t tell from the picture, the new 30 pack boxes of CMF series 9. I’d not seen them before and there were a dozen sitting by the cash registers. The nice check out lady opened one up for me and counted to makes sure all 30 were there. I’m told the figure distribution is exactly the same as the 60 box only halved. I haven’t opened mine up to count partially because I’d get depressed at all the Cyclops and Knights balanced by only one Forest Maiden.

    Happy Hunting.

  • Announcing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Vignettes: Heroes in a Half Scene Building Contest

    Teenage Mutant Ninja Vignettes Contest

We haven’t done a vignette contest in a while and while Don and I were up late one night bandying some ideas, we both came up with the same theme: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! I love me some Turtles and watching the new cartoon on Nickelodeon is what inspired this contest. It’s really simple: Your goal is to create a compelling vignette that is themed around Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can build a street scene, sewer scene, rooftop scene, or anything in between. Are the turtles training underground? Having a quiet moment with a pizza? Kicking some Foot clan butt? The possibilities are endless. The prizes? How about the 79104 Shellraiser Street Chase for first place? Second place will receive 79103 Turtle Lair Attack, and third will get 79105 Baxter Robot Rampage. And that’s not all. This is probably the first contest in FBTB history where we’re giving away something that isn’t made by LEGO. In addition to 79104 Shellraiser Street Chase for first, we’re giving away 1 copy of the limited edition dvd set of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. It should be noted, in case it isn’t obvious, that this isn’t the current cartoon that is currently airing on Nickelodeon. This first aired starting in 1987. All ten seasons are in this set on 23 discs that come packaged in the Turtle van. I hear so many good things about it, I’m almost willing to look past my own bias and get a set for myself. Contest is open until the last day of March, so hit up the forum thread for complete rules. Good luck!

  • “A Sentimental Replica Of A Planet Long Since Vanished”

    Fortress of Solitude

That’s how Zod described Superman’s Fortress of Solitude in the second movie and it’s quite true if a bit cold. ZeeMasterBrick has built this stark and stunning monument and even gone so far as to have a custom Jor-El made to accompany his own minifigs in capturing some movie moments. It’s such an eye-catching version of the last house of El, that I had to post it right away instead of banishing it to my queue of builds “to blog”. I’m so behind…
