Brandon Griffith's Jedi Chess Set

Postby Staff » Sun Jun 12, 2011 11:53 pm

What's missing???

Brandon Griffith (icgetaway) made a splash at last year's Star Wars Days with his Empire Strikes Back-themed chess set. His follow-up act of a Return of the Jedi-themed set will be unveiled to the world this weekend at LEGOLAND CA and will surely be a hit. Shrouded in secrecy, you can view some WIP pics in his photostream. I'll be taking a plenty of pics of this and all the other mocs at Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND CA on June 18 and 19. Hope to see you there!

Well, really, the splash was made with his "A New Hope" set at 2009's SWDays:

2010's ESB and 2011's ROTJ sets are just the logical (but of course impressive) followups.

Of course, this is a much-anticipated reveal as his previous chess sets have been mind-blowing. Judging by his scant WIP photos, it looks like he may be going with a Tatooine/Jabba's Palace theme. While I can't knock that (it did comprise a substantial portion of the film), I suppose I associate RotJ more with Endor, so that was my hope. But again, it's hard to judge from just a handful of pics, so we'll see. Either way, it will surely be impressive!
