Not completely. Isn't there a fourth movie in the works?

It's possible it came coupled with the Disney license...

That is one nice-looking fig. Those dreds look awesome.
Wait, if TLG was able to get that license from Mega Bloks, what else could they get?

No great surprise that a licensed Pirates theme based on Pirates of the Caribbean would be coming out with the new movie "On Stranger Tides" scheduled for a 2011 release. At the American International Toy Fair in 2009, LEGO and Disney said:
The LEGO Group and Disney Consumer Products today announced a multi-year licensing agreement that gives the world’s premiere construction toy brand access to an extensive portfolio of renowned Disney and Disney Pixar properties. LEGO(R) and LEGO DUPLO(R) products are currently in development for three franchises -- Disney Pixar’s Toy Story and Cars, and Prince of Persia -- all scheduled to launch in 2010

We are thrilled to team up with Disney, another of the world’s premium brands for families with children,” said Jorgen Vig Knudstorp, CEO LEGO Group. “When two brands who share similar values bring their franchises together -- in this case a timeless play pattern with some of the industry’s most beloved stories and characters -- and combine their access to families, retail strength and marketing power, amazing things can happen. We can’t wait to launch the first three lines and look forward to exploring all of the ways in which we bring the wonderful world of Disney to life in LEGO form.

Joining forces with LEGO Group speaks to the commitment and vision both companies share for quality product and innovative creativity that invigorates kids play,” said Vince Klaseus, senior vice president, global toys, Disney Consumer Products. “Our collaboration will continue to extend the vitality of our roster of franchises by bringing our characters and their worlds to life in a fresh and exciting way. Through these new LEGO product lines, Disney will continue to build presence in the construction toys category and grow market share in the boys demographic.

Also, with Disney shelling out $4 billion for Marvel entertainment and its roster of 5000 characters, it would seem to open the door to more superhero licenses.

also consider that the megabloks liscense might have just been for each movie not the franchise. also wasn't cars megabloks at one point then switched to lego?
I lost my glasses and all I got was this lousy Megablok

I would buy POTC LEGO, at least a small set or two. I don't know if I'd go all out and buy say, The Black Pearl.

Yeah I thought the fact that Lego was coming out with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme was already pretty well known. It's one of the reasons the new pirates theme was terminated early.

I wondered about that. I'm excited about this so long as we get a Davy Jones minifig. That would be just sweet. :)

I was thinking the same. Now I wouldn't count on Halo at all, not a shot in heck, especially since it isn't Disney affiliated and it looks to be the most successful license MEGA BLOKS has had in a long time. I would really like to know if the purchase of Marvel by Disney includes product rights... I mean could we see some Iron Man legos? or Thor? Or Avengers... one can dream, but since the Marvel deal was announced last year, then the Mega bloks Iron man 2 sets came out after, I really don't know.

I'm not a huge pirates fan, not since the early 90's, but these could be really nice sets, especially the figs.

Pretty cool, they may have had the Iron Man 2 figures already as a done deal since those were likely planned before the merger. They merger wouldnt cancel any outstanding deals Marvel already had on the books with a third party.

Me kind of gets the feeling someone has a black sense of humour, and threw this in as a custom joke. Definitely looks custom made, not Lego plastic.

I think we are all just too eager looking forward to many many many more Disney lines. Hopefully a lot more complex builds though.
