Summer Sets Spotted In The Wild

Postby Staff » Tue Jul 13, 2010 10:23 am

Various reports are coming in that the August wave of LEGO Star Wars sets are starting to appear at Toys'R'Us stores. Below is a list of the MSRPs so keep in mind these prices when shopping, as TRU may and most likely will add their infamous markup:

  • 8098 Clone Turbo Tank: $119.99

  • 8097 Slave I: $79.99

  • 8096 Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle: $59.99

  • 8095 General Grievous Starfighter: $49.99

  • 8093 Plo Koon's Starfighter: $24.99

  • 8089 Hoth Wampa Cave: $39.99

The 8129 AT-AT Walkericon set is a TRU exclusive and their price is $109.99.

Target and Walmart stores are also clearing out some older stock, presumably to make room for the new wave, so you can probably score some nice discounts on stuff like the Pirate Tank, Venator, and other various sets. Happy Hunting!

Are the prices listed above Canadian? I'm making the assumption that they're American...

Wait, Plo Koon's Starfighter is $25?! I might have to pick one up when we have the white boba giveaway.
I build it so you don't have to!

When did we find out White Boba was in a giveaway?

All I know that that was the case in Sweden. Also, an ambassador who did a review of it said it would be part of a giveaway.

Just because they did something in another country doesn't make it automatic to happen here. There is a difference between rumors and fact.

A rumor that I heard from a reliable source is that apparently in August TRU is giving away a Clone Trooper minifig with a LEGO Star Wars purchase. I heard this from the same person that told me about the Chrome Stormtrooper gig. I don't know though, they might have mistaken Boba for a Clone, or maybe it's another stupid minifig pen. If I hear anything else I'll be sure to post.

Hmm.. at this point a clone trooper minifig doesn't make sense to me (would it be the tiny walker set?). Combine this with the fact that it would be within the realm of possibility to mistake white Boba for a Clone, and I'd say this is pretty good news :)

I can't believe that Grievous' fighter has taken a $30 price jump. I know it has improved figs and it's bigger, but is it worth that huge of an increase?

Same with the store in Olathe, KS. I'll be out and about today so I'll probably check at least one other store.

Just picked up my Grievous Starfighter and Plo Koon Starfighter at TRU on Parham in Richmond, VA. Other TRU in Midlothian, VA (~8 mi away) said none until tomorrow.

Anyone notice the different "special" on Plo Koon's Starfighter is an "ejection seat" ?

Plan to build it tonight to see how it works....

Joco KS TRU at 95th ST had all of the sets out except the Clone Turbo Tank, they were all marked at normal MSRP. I picked up a Plo Koon's, but resisted the others for now.
