[NEW STUFF] 10213 Space Shuttle

Though we don't cover them in detail on FBTB, we all still love our Castle, Pirates, and Space LEGO too.

[NEW STUFF] 10213 Space Shuttle

Postby Draykov » Thu May 06, 2010 6:57 am

This is especially exciting for me, as I managed to pick up all of the Discovery sets except 7470 which weighed in at a mere 826 pieces compared to this 1204 piece beast (to be fair though, 7470 didn't include the boosters and was probably a slightly larger version of the orbiter than we're seeing here). Thanks to Klaus-Dieter over at Eurobricks for the scoop.

That is... one of the most beautiful sets I have ever seen. I must have it!

I like it too. I don't know if I'll eventually pick it up, but it's an excellent representation of the shuttle, ET, and SRBs. Now we just have to wait for somebody to build an awesome MOC of the tower and launchpad.

"scoop" ? He credits Brickset (as does Brickipedia) as the origin of the photo & info.

It looks like a great set; hopefully it won't be too expensive :-)

This is a really cool model, and one I might just pick up if it ever goes on sale.

One of the only Megablock kit I ever picked up (yes, I know, I know...) was their version of the Space Shuttle because:
a) It was on sale;
b) I couldn't resist the temptation of building this iconic model (I just love space exploration and the Shuttle is my favorite space vehicle of all time).

So for LEGO to make their own version might be just enough to convince me to buy this model (if the price is right of course). The parts selection doesn't look too shabby either...

And for steam punk builders there seems to be some nice large brown cylinder pieces.

Oh. So that's OK then

For what it's worth, the bay doors open & there's a satellite model to go in the cargo bay.

This will be an especially cool model to have as the historic Space Shuttle program comes to a close (I believe there are only 3 more flights, and come 2011 the Space Shuttle will be no more). Anyone know when this is hittin' the shelves?

I love it, apart from the nose of the shuttle. Just not convinced about that. Still a must buy though and I'll modify that bit.

A bigger baseplate might have been nice, but that would just be pushing my luck. Looks like there are stickers too. The shuttle is still gorgeous though.

Any word on a price?

There's a 32x32 baseplate in the Space Police HQ set coming out soon. Apparently they're also in the LEGO Games and the designers of the SPHQ snatched it up.
