Very Sad News - The Passing of Nate "nnenn" Nielson

Not having known Nate personally, the most connected response I can give to this news is that the LEGO Fan Community has lost one of its most talented builders and active ambassadors of the hobby. Of course, that trivializes the passing of a beloved human being who was much more than a LEGO fan to those that knew him. Condolences to Nate's friends and family.

Cross-posting my reply on the TBB post...

Much has been said already [On TBB] that I couldn’t possibly say any better. I didn’t know Nate very well, but I always respected him as an artist of the brick, and even more so as a role model that I wish more dads would follow. My condolences to his family and loved ones, and I lift up my prayers to the Lord for their peace and comfort.

I can't say that I knew him either, but after looking through his Brickshelf Gallery, I wish I had. After looking through the many awesome and varied starships and other creations, it's obvious he was a talented builder. His unique style is something I wish I had, and even though he's gone, I'm sure his creations have reached many and will live on in their hearts and minds.

I read a line in his brickshelf gallery that really leads me to believe he was a man after my own heart. In a folder simply titled "Starfighters" read the line, "because starfighters are all the way fun." You've got that right, man, you've got that right.

The beauty of a LEGO MOC is not the elements that go into it, but the way those elements are put together.

nnenn was one of the very first builders i noticed as I came out of my 'dark ages' - not single-handedly, but he was very influential in my renewed interest in LEGO.
