How you can help deal with Spam on the forum.

The thing I've never understood about spam...

I agree that I never look at them and find spam irritating, but someone,somewhere must be clicking or they wouldn't do it. It's the same with scams. Most people with any sense can tell that its bogus, but just enough people fall for them that con artists keep on doing it because on some level it works.

Edit: I just noticed the latest member (10-07-09 gucci-"somthingorother") and it's so easy to spot. They don't even try that hard.

I have the same problem on my forum. They create much work for me, but even worse, some posted picture adds with hard core porn!! These people are just evil. "For the love of money is the root of all evil." (1 Timothy 6:10)
I operate a website for our church where people from young children to old ladies read posts and these Spams are most inappropriate...
If anyone has any suggestion how to prevent them from getting through, input would be much appreciated.
